Detailed Chronological Order
We left Breakers Express at about 8:40. We got a good parking spot (23 E, I think). We got in line and got to hear the National Anthem at 9am before the gates opened. According to the sign in the lobby, early entry rides were Millennium Force & Raptor. However, Millennium Force was broken down the whole day, and Mantis was the "subsitute" early entry ride. I rode raptor twice, and was planning to hit Mantis, but we had to wait 5-10 minutes while a train was stuck on the chain lift of Raptor. So, I went to the TTD line and made it just as the front of the general public began passing me. The line was back to the launch traffic light when I got there.
It took them until about 10:30 to complete testing, but remarkably, there wasn't a single rollback during testing (probably because it was in the upper 80's). It took about 1 1/2 hours for that line. While I was doing that, the rest of my family did the Cadilac Cars, and Cedar Creek Mine Ride. Then, we went over to Magnum (the whole family rode this one, unlike TTD). It was about a 15 minute wait. Next, we went to Gemini, but it broke down just minutes before we were to ride. So, we went to check on Skyhawk, which was broken. Then, We went into the Town Hall Museum, and enjoyed the air conditioning, and all the cool stuff in there. I heard Skyhawk testing while we were in there, but after waiting about 10 more minutes on it, we decided to hop on Cedar Creek Mine Ride (which was walk on). After that, since Skyhawk was still broken, we had lunch. I had my first ever cheese on a stick, and it was pretty good. I also had a personal pan pizza and a "small" (it was at least 6 swirls) soft serve ice cream cone.
Seeing as Skyhawk was still closed, we headed back toward the front of the park. On the way we made it onto Gemini. We rode the blue side, but it lost. Then, we rode Sky Ride to get some breeze and shade, and to avoid walking. I played wacky wire (3 tries) but the wooden light support kept hanging me up. Next, I rode Wicked Twister (15 minute wait) while the rest of the family did bumper cars. Maxiar was closed, so we did Disaster Transport (about a half hour wait). After that, I remembered that I wanted to ride Demon Drop at least once in case it was sold before we came back to CP. So we went over there, and my brother and I rode it (about a 5 minute wait). I can see why it is for sale. It is prime flat ride space, not many people ride it, it is a short ride, and power tower is similar to it. Next, we rode Blue Streak (walk on). Then, we headed back to the left side of the park. We stopped at the big arcade on the Main Midway on the way, and I won a "small" (it is at least 4 feet long) prize (a snake) playing skeeball.
After the arcade, we all rode Iron Dragon (5-ish minute wait). Then, I rode Mantis while the rest of the family took a rest. It jerked me around more than I remembered from our 04 trip. Next, we did a complete lap on the CP & LE railroad, and I spotted Skyhawk swinging! (after we passed the Frontiertown stop). So, we got off at the Main Midway station after our lap and walked by deserted Millennium Force and toward Skyhawk. On our way, I heard a noise, looked up at the Millennium main hill, and watched the catch car/cable go to the top (without a train attached). This seemed odd because if the cable was working, why wasn't it open? I got hungry and got some loaded nachos before riding Skyhawk. Finally, we continued to Skyhawk (the sign said 1/2 an hour). However, the whole sunshaded area of "turnstiles" was full, so I questioned the sign. I got in line, and it moved quickly. The ride cycle is too short, so that makes the line move quickly. I enjoyed Skyhawk. I also liked their slogan: "Sit up right, Hold on tight, and enjoy your flight...on Skyhawk". On our way around the "loop", we hit Gemini again, we tried red side, but this time we lost again (you can't win, can you?).
On the way back up front, we checked the Dragster line, and it was only half an hour! I immediately got in line and enjoyed my second ride on TTD. Afterwards, my brother and dad rode wildcat, while my mom and I rode power tower. We got in line for launch side, but it broke down and we switched to drop side. After this, we met back up and had a quick dinner at Coasters. I convinced everyone to do one more "loop" around the back of the park. I hit Skyhawk one more time (and convinced my brother to ride too). The line was less than 10 minutes, because they were RUNNING around pushing down lap bars and double checking them. They even had us put our hands up so that we didn't slow them down! It was getting dark by now, so we headed to Maxair. Sadly, it was still closed, so I rode Wicked Twister twice (it was walk on) before they closed the line. Since my brother hadn't won anything yet, we used the buy one get one free coupon from the Getaway Guide and played the Water Gun Race Game (clever idea, huh?). I won by a little bit and let him keep the prize since I already had one. Then we headed back to the van and drove back to Breakers Express.
That was our Memorial Day at CP. It wasn't too crowded, but it was REALLY HOT AND HUMID! It was in the low 90's in the afternoon! It was so bad, that one ride host said "Thank you for riding __(I forget which ride it was)__, and Enjoy the rest of your day at America's really really hot humid rollercoast, Cedar Point". It was a great trip, I just wish that Maxair and Millennium would have been open.
