Park was empty today, we were pleasantly surprised for a holiday week! Everything was walk on with the exception of VR iron dragon and a one hour wait for Steel Vengeance. My niece had a bird poop on her and it was hotter than hades but overall an awesome day!!! Got to the park at 3, stayed until close- rode a ton of rides and saw a show. Success!!
TSA warned that last Friday was potentially their busiest day ever. With the 4th falling in the middle of the week, many people’s Independence Day holiday was last weekend.
Most people have to work on Thursday Friday so it’s not a convenient take an extra day off holiday this year.

And I can see the exact opposite. My guess is that the 4th won’t be all that busy. It is in the middle of the week, so that’s the day of parades, cook outs, and fireworks. Then the smart ones just go ahead and take the rest of the week off, so parks everywhere might be busy at the end of the week. Maybe.
We’ll be in Louisville this week for an event and a friend and I are thinking of hitting Kentucky Kingdom on Thursday, weather permitting. Hopefully it won’t be busy and those that do show up will be at the water park.
It would be fun to have a crowd calendar much like various sources create for Disney Parks. The only way to gauge is by reading trip reports here and I know it's a crap shoot based on a lot of factors (mostly weather) but it's really a guessing game. I would have thought yesterday would be packed due to people taking week long vacations but perhaps they were all enjoying the water and beach activities.
Or look at Hotel rates and vacancies, CP has had a very high rate of availability this year considering they’re down a hotel.

As they say "grain of salt." Especially the second one. It's been wrong a lot.

Enjoying the Ohio park on the shores of beautiful Lake Erie since the mid-1970s!
The park was pretty slow on Friday and Saturday too (6/29 & 6/30). Millennium was a practical walk on ride on Saturday around 5ish. Couldn't believe it, though it was crazy hot. Thinking that most people are taking Thursday and Friday off with the 4th falling on a Wednesday.

I"ve never seen these before, worth checking out. Thanks!!
While they are physically down a hotel, the Breakers expansion added 158 rooms. Sandcastle had something like 180 if memory serves so the room supply is fairly close to the same. Add in the Express expansion and the inventory is quite a bit higher than was two years ago. Sure hasn't helped the prices though. Ouch!
If anyone is looking for a crowd calendar, I have recently found this. It's basically been my bible for planning trips this year.

It uses a lot of past data, as well as posting suggested wait times for rides at certain times of day (however, this was made before the season started under the assumption that SV would run 3 trains, so the actual wait has been longer). You can also input weather forecast data for the current and following days, which will update the predicted crowds accordingly.
