I was around the park today and I noticed something very interesting on MF. Those who thought that a guest couldn't hit the support in the first banked turn might want to think again. I saw that they cut out a peice of the support right by the track.

Those who were skeptical about hitting the support have any reaction to this? I really have no opinion on it. I was going to try it this year to see if I could touch it, but since Dan says there's that piece of support missing, I'll always wonder if it really could have been done.

Good, I don't have to yank my hands down when going through the sweet overbank, even though I'm supposed to keep them down anyway. :)
I wonder what happened with the pull-through when it went through this location?
I KNOW you can.. I hit it twice last year.... I know.. I know.. keep your hands inside at all times. But I'm also 6'5" and long arms.. It's that last support as you come out of the turn.. have to be the last one in the car.
If you look at the pic on the main CP page, far left... horizontal strut.. you can barely see it.... Damn that thing hurt.. Lost feeling in my arm for 45 mins. Thank god Red Garter was there to addminister first aid... at $4.75 a glass.. hehehhe
Is that the one Dan?

Yeah, I am 6'5" too and was very afraid of loosing my arm.
I just watched the construction time lapse and I noticed something. The Pull-through fly's down the hill and up the 1st overbank. Then when it reaches the supports that hold up the turn it spends a good amount of time by each support, assuming that the time lapse is true and they did not just stop the camera in those locations. After it clear the supports it moves again.
My guess is that it just took some time to move the crane and pull-through around the supports. Or could it have been a bunch of Intamin Engineers sitting around scratching their heads thinking what to do?

Well, I thought it looked last year, but I was only 5'4" and if I had another foot like you guys, I may have hit them.
Ha! I just knew they were going to have to cut that support! Must have been what they were working on week before last.

Wow, I really didn't try to hit it last year, I just figured that it was clearable like Gemini's.
(Come to think of it, it did look a little close...)
Rob, I was going to say...wouldn't that hurt like hell?
Dan, btw, did you happen to see if Raptor's rails were painted gray or green? Thanks

So Dan, does it look like a complete cob job now? Honestly, I didn't believe the people who said they had hit themselves on a support because in all honesty, hitting something - even if it is just a fingertip - at 93MPH must hurt pretty damn bad! I guess I just assumed that Intamin/CP wouldn't cut it that close and every possible angle and arm length was taken into account. I guess next time CP does a pull through they'll make those "fingers" a bit longer. This is kind of scary if you ask me. I know people make up stories, but Dan is usually pretyt reliable and if they're cutting supports, something must be up.

(Welcome to Magnum - where you have less of a chance of losing a finger than on that big blue thing over there! :) Haha, just kidding, I wouldn't want to get fired.)
richie, Raptor's rails are a dark green now.

Andrew,
That's awesome that they've painted Raptor's rails along with the rest of the ride. The rusty rails were starting to bring the look of the ride down. I'm assuming you've seen the painted product, so are the rails the same dark green as the supports?
Did any of you that hit your hands tell one of the ride operators for MF? I worked on MF last year and no one came off the ride and told any of us that they had hit their hands. I would imagine that hitting your hand would hurt a lot. I'm not saying I don't believe you guys but if something like that happened you guys should have let someone know so something could have happened sooner. :)
If you said you had hit your hand while you had it up in the air, take a wild guess what they would respond?!
Maybe... Keep you hands and arms in the car at all times??

I didn't say I didn't believe that you hit it Rob, but I was just wondering if you told anyone. Chicks do dig scars by the way! lol :)
Logan, it is about the same color as the supports. I will have pictures very soon.

I just barely touched the railing of THe Beast in the long brake run, and I got some big splinters and my hand bled. It hurt! I jokingly told by brother that I was going to sue Paramount for everything they had. ;)
So maybe that's why they the ride ops were so adament about telling people to keep their hands down...:)

Actually, that may have been why the no hands up rule was only in affect on Millennium Force. I wonder if it will be removed this season.
