I saw this on our Ohio NewsWire at the station today.

Dead Men Tell No Tales

Wow thats kinda creepy. I never knew you were alloud to fish on that lake or take a boat on it.

"Milk was a bad choice..."

There's that private "club" thing on the West side of the lake I believe. You can see a pavilion and swingset. That is the only place I can see where you can launch a boat.

That is not good. I never knew that you could take a boat or go fishing on ther lake either.

Ya, that would suck to be watching the lumberjack show and a bloated body wash up on the shore.

I hope they find him.

I just saw that on the ten o' clock news... Hope he's found soon.

According to the wires he's still not found. I always knew that the lake was public property, but I've never seen anyone on it. I'll post if I hear anything else.

Dead Men Tell No Tales

The lake is not public property, but there is an agreement with the Geauga Lake Home Owners Asociation that allows them use of it.

The Portage County auditors site lists the lake itself as being owned and taxed to Cedar Fair.

Fastball, there is another dock nearer to the Sea World side of the lake.

A few weeks ago I looked into buying a house that was beside this other dock. One of the perks of owning the home was use of the lake. Unfortunately the home needs a new roof and I'm just not ready to take on a rebuilding task like that. So my dreams of rowing out to the floating bridge in the middle of the night will just have to wait. :)

I stand corrected, come to think of it I knew they were taxed for it. Oh well. By the way, still no update on the man.

Dead Men Tell No Tales

They found the body.

He was 27 year old Steven Miracle of Aurora. 2 other fishermen swam to shore (60 feet out) after the boat took on water.

Dead Men Tell No Tales

This was wierd. Didn't CP have the same thing happen like 2 or 3 years ago off of the dock in Camper Village? I know it happened but I don't know if it was publicly released or made a big deal, kinda like a Disney death.

Are you serious? Disney deaths are huge news.

I think I know what CrazyCoasterGuy is getting at...

Yeah they are huge when they get out. Do you know how much cover up there is when it comes to a death a park? I could tell you at least TWICE someone that either died or recieved their injuries that caused their death at CP in the 2 seasons I worked there. I am however a former employee and I will not divulge that information. Lets just say cover-ups happen all the time. And for about 2 weeks the whole boater death I mentioned before was covered up too. But the media got ahold of it somehow. I know this b/c my crew and I happen to be discussing it when a supervisor was walking by an a couple of us got a stern talking to and threatened to be wrote up if we were heard talking about it again. Disney does the same darn thing. Cover-ups are huge at Disney, just b/c you have heard about 4 deaths in the last year there doesn't mean a darn thing. And have you also noticed that when they say they were pernounced dead they were all off property? Never will a guest "die at" Disney World, never.

Just My 2 Cents.....

Noone ever died at CP as a result of a ride malfunction or an accident from a ride.

You are very right my friend. But people die from other stupidity. And out of the 4 deaths at Disney did no one die from a ride malfunction or accident from a ride. My point is that it is all covered up and even if they did you MIGHT not have heard about that either. I'm not trying to stur things up I'm just throwing out my opinions and things that I know.

Again, Just My Two Cents...

I'm just curious as to why CP would have to release a news item telling everyone that a man died in line for a ride from a heart attack? That's not a cover, that's respect for the family of the man. If my dad died because he had a heart attack in line for a ride, I wouldn't want a news agency reporting about it. That would be like a man having a stroke in Wal Mart and it being on the nightly news. I'm not sure the town that you live in but mine's pretty small and even things like that don't make it to the newspaper let alone the 11 o'clock news.

This just used as an example.

Well unfortanately my town would be all over that kind of story either at a large amusement park or at the Wal Mart. Thats just America being America and that is the unfortunate truth about people no a days. That people crave to hear these things. Again, its unfortunate but it happens.

I wouldn't want the news to report on a family memeber either

"A fun day at the amusement park turns into tragedy... tune in at 11"

"TERROR AT AMUSEMENT PARKS... Could it happen to you?"

I hate the news.

As for the death in 2004, I thought some drunk idiot fell off a Sailboat, drowned and washed ashore near sandcastle?
