When I was at the park on June 11 the show was closed as well. It was about to rain and it was 1pm so we decided we would see the show. When 1 o'clock came and the doors never opened, we saw the sign that said the show would not be performed today.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
^^^ I've done it in many areas surrounding GL for example, and usually there will be a few members of the cast who learn all the other roles for their gender and age group within the show. These people are usually part of the ensemble who don't really mess everything up if they are pulled for a larger role. A lot of times with kids and/ or college students they will have two people playing the role, switching off every night, and if one of them gets ill, the other one takes over.
In CP's case I would assume they have a duplicate cast for their shows, as with that many performances a day and per week, I can't see a single cast handling that. Or at least a few extra people that allows the cast to switch off. *** Edited 7/13/2007 6:36:22 AM UTC by Top Thrill 182***
Thrills Around the Corner!
The show was closed for three performers where sick. They don't have understudies so nobody could fill in so they just closed it. The show back up running now but still one performer short. *** Edited 7/13/2007 4:28:12 AM UTC by cmkbabie***

So, three performers were sick? That is insane, but it's good that the show is running again. I saw the lower left corner and technical dificulties, and assumed something technical was going on, but 3 people being sick? That's just different.

If people are sick they're sick. You can't force people to work when they're sick. That would be called Slavedriving.

Not really. Considering they work together, in close proximity, on a regular basis, it makes sense - one gets sick, and two others catch said sickness. Ask an elementary school teacher... :)

Actually, even the most basic community theater shows have understudies -- not just Broadway.
No doubt. I visited a good a friend of mine who is an actress in Dearborn and she has an understudy. It is a pretty rinky dink production so I was pretty surprised.
What had happened on the 4th(I know that was sometime ago) was that 1 performer had gotten laryngities. I had since heard that multiple performers had gotten sick also.
Ride-on
Jeff, besides the pre-mentioned community groups, there is one in Amherst, Lorain, and Avon Lake, OH that I've done shows with, all of which have used understudies. They are more commonly used than you believe.
Owner, Gould Photography.
I have been involved with many community theatre shows, both as an actor and tech.
The choice of having understudies usually depends on the director. I have done shows with, and without.
Keep in mind that except for a rare exception, community theatre actors are volunteers. Even the understudies are volunteers.
It would be a waste of time and money for Cedar point to pay understudies who do not work. Cedar Point pays their performers decently well as it is. To double that cost would be financially questionable.
And for those who questioned how three people got sick at the same time. Well,... Obviously they never worked at Cedar Point, or in theatre, If you get my drift. ;)
Well, whaddya know. There is a Candy Mountain.
See thats the thing. It is usually up to the director, and sometimes in community theater, there may not be enough people to cast in the needed roles, let alone understudies. I've seen professional theaters try to skate by without an understudy.

Haha. So true...
As a former Live Shows employee, and aquaintance of some of the cast of the show....
Live E! does indeed have "alternates" that may perform given any particular situation. The alternates live within a reasonable driving distance and are notified within a few days notice.
Melissa Grochowski (former Live E alum- Red Garter), who lives in Toledo is an alternate performer for the 2007 season.
I know Brian Carlucci who is "in" the show, but have not spoken with him regarding the situation. Who knows WHAT happened? More often than not, it was probably a technical situation.
