Misadventures of Molly and Maverick...CLOSED

Does anyone know why the Show: The Misadventures of Molly and Maverick has been closed all week?

It's pretty frustrating when you are too fat to ride the best rides at the park so you plan on watching the shows and they are closed. What's the deal?

Been to the park 2 days so far, and leaving today right now to the park for 2 more days. Then I'm done for the year. They better get that blown speaker replaced, or give Molly some Dayquil cause I plan on watching that show. Big gut and all...

There is nothing on Cedar Point's Website today saying it is closed due to technical difficulties.

Just the 10th, and the 11th... in was in the lower left window flashing in the news section

People aren't machines. They can't simply be repaired and put back on stage.

Anyone know why it was shut down?

The lighting was rigged with cables borrowed from Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. ;)

Ohh... geez. Perhaps I should have kept my mouth shut. :)

I was also wondering what would cause a show to go down for a few days. My money would be on either a sick performer or major blowout of some part of the lighting/sound system.

I highly doubt a sick performer cancelled it. Very rarely does a theatrical performance not have understudies that can take over when illness comes into play.

And on the website it did say "technical issues" so I'd bet that's what it was.

This is not Broadway. I doubt they have understudies. That's why most of the shows are ensemble casts, where they can get along without one or even two.

Actually, even the most basic community theater shows have understudies -- not just Broadway. And speaking as an actor, it's extremely hard just to do a show without one or two people. It just doesn't work no matter how small their roll is. The choreography is completely messed up, and then other people on stage are thrown off as well.

Although I haven't seen many shows at CP this year, there is no way a show at CP last year could have been performed with people missing. The casts are just too small, and they are too heavily staged and choreographed. CP would have to have understudies, or enough cast members that perform on different days so as they could cover for one another.

That really only leaves technical problems, and I'd be willing to bet it was with the lights or the sound board. IF the programing gets erased for the show's light program or the sound cues get erased, which I've seen happen, you basically have to reprogram it which takes a day or two.

They did have signs at the entrance gates saying it would be closed today.

Maybe molly walked out on maverick?

Where are you doing community theater? I've never done a show where we had extra anything, let alone actors. I've had stage managers taking tickets at the shows I've worked.

Yeah, I can't say I've been in a community theater show that had understudies or any extras. It's so important to not get sick the week of show. I would also think that if it was something technical they could have it fixed sooner than they have. My money's on a sick/injured cast member.
