Mine Ride

Hey everybody I got my contract finally. I will be on Mine Ride. Can't wait to get started. Is anybody else on Mine Ride on this forum?
That is my sons next-to-favorite ride. He's 9 and this was his first big coaster. I'm sure you will see us about 15 times in a day when we visit.
Looking forward to it.

i'm sorry but i hate that ride...gave me a headache...no actually it made the one i had even worse...

NOTE: If you're going to ride the Mine Ride, wear a neck brace.

I think your TL, Dustin, posts here every so often. He's the only one that I know that's working Mine Ride so far. It's a fun ride to work but it will be different this year with the airgates. Hopefully you guys get to run three trains because that's when it gets really fun! Be prepared for almost no downtime...that ride is a beast! It hardly ever breaks down. Sandbagging is a blast but that only gets done at the beginning and end of the season. My suggestion to you is to keep hitting interval...your day will fly by then! Have fun shoving 'em in! ;)

What does sandbagging mean? Brad I see that you are a fellow Buckeye. Doesn't it suck that everyone else will be at the park in May while we are in class til early June.
It means securing sandbags in a train to add weight for morning test runs.

Then of course.. after it's run.. there's the wonderfull job of running all those sandbags back to where they are stored.

Mine Ride rough, need a neck brace? No, the ride is silky smooth. The transistions shake you around a bit, but it's supposed to do that, where would the fun be otherwise?

Florida may have Disneyworld and Key West,
but Ohio has Cedar Point and Put-In-Bay.
It's great to live in Ohio!

actually the minute g forces you feel on the ride would be more fun without the "transitional" shaking as you call it. i still second the idea of a neck brace...

It's really not all that bad. While the whole going to school thing isn't fun, we miss out on a lot of the crappy weather. When I got there last summer in mid-June, it had just started to get consistantly warm. You'll get to miss out on all that sandbagging fun!

Rob, I completely forgot about that part! It's the worst part about sandbagging! At least when you put them in you can go at a fairly slow pace but when you take them out you gotta hurry so the wheels don't cool down. Watching the first test run after taking the sandbags out is always interesting! ;)

And one other thing, all of you complaining about that ride being rough need to come ride Mean Streak a few times...then give me your opinion! Like Pete said, it's just those Arrow transitions...as long as it's moving in a straight line or going through an element, it's smooth as glass!

What are 'airgates'?
*** This post was edited by Point4Life 2/19/2003 8:34:29 AM ***

Actually.. I think the air-gates were put on hold for Mine Ride this year.. I DO know what ride did get them.. but...

Airgates are the gates used to hold back the guests. Like the ones on Magnum and Iron Dragon. They are powered by peneumatic actuators, hence "air gates"

I thought I had heard that raptor was getting them? Maybe I was mistaken though. It makes sense that Raptor would though because of it being one of the major roller coasters at the park.

I thought Raptor had them already? *Edit: Now that I think about it, I guess it doesn't have gates already.* In all honesty, I heard rumors all summer about different rides getting them so I have no clue who's getting them or not. Mean Streak looked to be getting them because they had markings drawn on the platform. I guess I'll find out when I get there!
