Millie Island Construction

Since ever before they started inside the Area 51 section they have been doing something on Millie IS. They made a road that goes from paddle wheel to the island and there has been all sorts of heavy equipment there. Why would they spend all that time putting a road through the lagoon? anybody got any ideas. I've heard rumors that the que might be placed on the island but i have my doubts about that.
I've heard that the island doesn't have anything to do with anything. Either way it seems like an odd place for a que.
More than likely all the construction on the island is all in your head. Perhaps, though, it's helping w/ PWE for next year.

"Your obssesed w/ that place aren't you?"

This is a stretch but I'll try it. They have moved the PWE "Station" a couple of times now. Maybe they are tired of moving it around the perimeter of the lagoon and they are going to put it on the island with bridge access.

To stretch it even further (I'm just brainstorming here) maybe they are going to move the Frontiertown Village onto the Island along with all other "Trail" type stuff. This would give it a Tom Sawyer's Island feel.

If they did that, they would have room on the existing Trail for more expansion.

Please, don't jump on me over this, it is just a thought.

OOOH I KNOW! Maybe the ride will go over to Millie Island and it won't be a l-th-b afterall! Oh the possibilities. ::wonders how many people will follow me on this one::

Peace I'm Out

btw, no, i'm not serious about this.

Chief, while that is a stretch, it is logical, and would be very interesting to see in the future. :) They could do a whole lot with the island, but I'm not so sure that will happen so soon.

My gut feeling is that they will just cut the lagoon a little tighter around the curve of MF on the island. From the aerial view of the construction site on VirtualMidway it looks like they should be able to get closer on that side. It doesn't seem like they really need to move the PWE station due to the tower construction. Did CP ever state that PWE was going to be changed?
I was told and read somewhere (can't quite remember where right now) that PWE was going to be "Re-Vamped" for the 2003 season.
OMG really!!!!!!!!!!! I would have never known. OH wait thats been a given since the last couple of weeks of the season.

Jdubya asked so i said something, no reason to get snotty about.
I guess I should have been a little more specific in my question. I seem to remember the "revamped" statement but I can't remember where I heard it either. Has CP itself announced (formally or informally) any changes to PWE? Did they say revamped, relocated or any thing else. Or was the "revamped" comment an unofficial word thru GTTP or VirtualMidway or someone else? No need to have a cow there, c-r.
Actually to the best of my knowledge Paddle Wheel Excursions has never moved entrances or docks at all. PWE opened in 1987 with Iron Dragon. The Western Cruise had its main dock where The Iron Dragon Station is now.

First of all.....Dan, PWE's dock has been changed: (look under 1987)

http://www.virtualmidway.com/history/timeline1980.asp and here: (look under 1970):

And second....I was the one that said that PWE was being re-vamped!!!! I asked CP in an e-mail, and they used the word "re-vamped", which, for those of you who doesn't know, means "changed"

Thank you Kel for backing me up on this.

I beleive the "construction" on millie island was CP using the big dirt pile under the wide turn to fill in the lagoon.

Also a PWE thought, could it be possible that PWE could be getting 2 stations one on the Gemini midway side and the other on fronteir trail.

The dock in 1970 was for the Western Cruise. When they opened Iron Dragon in 1987, they moved the dock to it's current position and renamed the ride Paddle Wheel Excursions.
So the argument begins: Is Western Cruise and PWE two different rides? Or one ride that was "re-vamped" in 1987.

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead
Personlly I saw them as two different rides.

In my opinion I think that Western Cruise and PWE are the same ride just re-vamped to make room for a new ride. Lets say that Cedar Point "re-vamps" PWE for the 2003 season like they said, but give PWE a differnt name. Would that mean that it is the third boat ride or is it still PWE?
