Welcome to opening week.

Promoter of fog.

Dragster was hauling over the top hat all day (Thursday) from what I could tell.

MF stayed open an extra 20-30 minutes after close as well!

Zombie Thread ALERT! This was the only one I could find on this subject.

I finally got stuck on a lift-hill. Yesterday, 7/07/18 at 9:15am Millenium Force came to a jarring halt just after exiting the station so we weren't too high. I initially thought that perhaps someone had a phone out but that wasn't the case. We were stuck for an hour & 10 minutes. It was okay, not too hot & humid, people played tunes on phones & it turned out that I knew the guy in front of us from him taking flight lessons where I work.

Numerous park maintenance & OPS people showed up to help, finally they determined the best way to get us off would be to send us along the course of the ride. That meant lifting us ever so slowly, it took approx. 10 minutes to reach the top. At least we got a ride in. People down on Frontier Trail were gawking & taking video. It made for a prolonged awesome view of the surroundings. For such a long wait I didn't hear any grumblings from the riders, everyone was good natured about it not demanding to be made whole. One lady mentioned she had to "go" soon, and I had no issues with my son with autism, no meltdowns. When we reached the platform the riders gave the workers a round of applause.

The park gave us all meal passes, all day drink passes, 3 front of line passes each, 50% off next visit passes. Very nice, thanks CP.

We left at 12:00pm, I wonder if they fixed it. While stuck I noticed TTD never ran so that is 2 of the big attractions that were down on a busy Saturday. You should have seen the causeway traffic when we left.

I'm glad they made you whole and there wasn't any major problems with people on board.

I got stuck Tuesday on milly for over 30 min. A woman in the back of the train started yelling “I need help” and “stop” as we were pulling out so they e stopped it 1/4 way up the hill. The seatbelt of her or her riding partner wasn’t buckled for whatever reason. No passes or anything for us although we hoped for some. They probably don’t wanna encourage people stopping the ride by causing alarm just for passes.

Enthusiasts: The only people that say things like "I finally got stuck on a lift hill."

:D

^ OUCH! A few posts up I used that phrase; finally got stuck on a lift hill. First time I have been labeled an "enthusiast".

I resemble that remark.

Best “Stuck On A Rollercoaster” story ever! Fair warning, video has some strong language...

ROUNDABOUND.

That's exactly the video I was hoping it was when you posted that. I saw that last year and lost it.

I LOVE that video! I have it saved from the last time it was posted and watch it every now and again. Hilarious!

In the hundreds and hundreds of times I have ridden every roller coaster at Cedar Point I have only ever been stuck on 1 lift hill- The Mine Ride on the 2nd lift hill for about 10 minutes. We apparently were too close to another train so it stopped us on the second lift and one of the ride ops had to walk up the stairs to restart it so we could finish the ride.

Perhaps an utterance like “I finally got stuck” merely comes from subconsciously thinking of the law of averages. I’d venture to say that those here spend a proportionately greater amount of time at amusement parks seated on rides than others. Since these events happen with certain regularity, we’re more likely to experience them. As my dad used to say, “Spend enough time in the barbershop you’re eventually gonna need a haircut.” So maybe our jimmyburke isn’t as enthusiassy as we might think. (No shame in that anyway...)

My getting stuck story from 2018 was at SWO in February on Manta. We had just pulled out of the station and the train stopped at the bottom of the lift. No one came, there was no announcement. I was in seat 1 of the back row and a young, attractive, nicely dressed married couple had seats 3&4. After about 1 or 2 minutes the guy started screaming loudly, using horrible language, calling out m-f this and m-f that, threatening to hurt everyone if they didn’t come get him. Wow. She just sat there, still. Or laid there, I should say.
And that was the part I hated. The down time lasted all of about 10, maybe 15 minutes while the crew attempted to reset. But can you imagine being in that prone position, face down, with your weight against that restraint for that long? I’m big, don’t find them all that comfortable anyway, and I could NOT find a way to just relax. I didn’t cuss everybody out though.
My mind eventually (immediately?) went to what would happen in the event of an evac. Out of the station the track turns and the lift is right there. Our back row had just cleared the station platform when it stopped. There’s another metal platform below the approach, but it’s a lot lower. I reckoned there would be a way to manually lower the chairs, but it would still be more than a mere hop down. They’d have to come get us or assist with a device of some sort. And my every hope was that they would start in the back.
Anyway, after what seemed like an eternity there was a horn or something and the ride started back up. And after all that the ride wasn’t very enjoyable- the fear of a malfunction was still fresh in my mind.
At the unload there was no apology, and certainly no exit pass for us. Which was ok, the park was dead, but still nary a word. I approached an op in my usual nice way.
“What happened? We were there a long time.”
“Oh, I know. For some reason it wouldn’t reset”.
“....mmm ‘kay....”
Then I thought about the angry dude who I found exiting the ride laughing and talking with his wife. I thought “Girl, you got yerself a time bomb there. Good luck.”

Kinda curious why some would be hoping for line passes because your train was stopped a quarter of the way up for safety reasons. Seems kinda ridiculous to me considering the wait typically isn’t that long for a supervisor to come and ride the fanicular to the correct seat and check their restraints.

Right. I learned that lesson at Hershey after sitting at the top of the Falcon ride for a half hour in the heat. While the ride lurched and made creaking metallic noises. I was certain we were all going to die and I couldn’t believe my demise would be at the hands of a Huss Condor.
The managers were all there when we finally got lowered to the ground making sure everyone was ok and passsing out slips. We got onto the midway and the slip was for a free small Coke. Bonus! We sure were thirsty!

I think since there are so many stories about passes of all kinds to compensate for inconvenience that it’s turned into something to hope for or even expect. In the end it costs the park nothing and spreads instant good will and I think it’s a smart idea. Suddenly everything is forgiven, right?

RCMAC, while at a place called "Hershey" I would hope for something of a chocolate variety! Perhaps a nice tall chocolate shake made with real ice cream & Hershey Syrup. I don't care how hot it is out.

Ah. Funny thing about Hershey. We noticed a lack of chocolate in the park. When the factory operated you could smell it, like brownies baking, but nothing like that to be found.
And there’s the chocolate ride, which does empty out into the gift shop. And there was a milkshake stand in there but they made them with white ice cream and chocolate milk from the supermarket. Not a drop of syrup in em.
