^SkyScraper's problem was a little more than just certification, but there's no need to divulge any of that.
Both Ripcord and Skyscraper had "interesting" problems last weekend from what we were told on Friday night :)
Ripcord Crew 2002 / MF Crew 2004
I was planning on doing my first ripcord flight saturday, but at the entrance I heard a woman say it didn't pass certification or something to that extent. I didn't see any flights all weekend, so I didn't bother going to challenge park.
First rollback=opening weekend '09
I'm just going to assume that most of the folks posting some of these semi-panicky posts about coasters (OMGFGF!! Iron Dragon isnt working! 121111) have never been to an opening weekend before.
There are always, always kinks, in nearly every ride, on opening weekend, and the fisrt couple weeks.
Promoter of fog.
Heh, I just assumed this was the official 2009 freak out thread. As long as it stays contained to this thread, I'm happy.
My favorite are the wild claims by people who think they know what's really happening ("the lift motor broke!", "the brakes quit working!", "it failed certification because a water dummy fell out!").

You can take what guests say with a grain of salt when it comes to rides. From talking to my former employees, I gathered that RipCord was down because of wind nearly the entire weekend. That's probably why you didn't see any flights. SkyScraper was down for a maintenance issue, but that doesn't need to be aired here.
Ripcord opened as scheduled on Saturday morning and was open the entire weekend, including during the rain on Saturday afternoon. It was actually quite busy for a couple of hours both days. As for Friday night, every Skycoaster in the world was closed, not just Ripcord.
How much is Ripcord at CP? I know the one at KI was 5 dollars a person when I went, and I know CP's isn't that cheap. Did they change the price this year?
Let's Get Weird.
Prices are listed on the website.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
^it seems like skyflier is more intergrated in the park unlike Ripcord which is marketed as a separate attraction
also skyflier seems to always have a hudge line compared to ripcord
RipCord is actually fairly average compared to most Skycoasters around the country. Almost all Six Flags Skycoasters cost more than RipCord, and not all of them are even as tall as RipCord. I think KI's is so cheap because either 1. nobody rode it or 2. Paramount already didn't charge that much and Cedar Fair didn't want to upset the regulars who were used to paying less. My guess is it was 99% #1, and a little #2.
Anyone know if MF was up today? I'm taking a trip to the park tomorrow.

yes MF was open through out the day and during ERT, Maverick was closed during ERT(so i heard). WT was closed until the last 30min or so of the day. Dragster never rolled back nor was breaking down. Kudos to TTD's crew!
The full price of KI's Skycoaster is now $20 per flyer, reguardless of whether it's a single, double or triple flight. However, they seem to be able to change their price to whatever it takes to keep two towers operating with a steady line most of the day, which is why you often see the $5 "special" price.
