There was a remix of "Breakfast at Tiffany's" playing in the MF line and I have spent days searching for it and cannot find it. I'm pretty sure it was a female voice. Has anyone else heard it and/or have any more info?I'm dying to find it! :)
I did the original CDs in 2003, send me a private message with your email.
and a small history lesson on the music choices..
at the end of 2002, we were annoyed that all we had was a set of 5 CDs to play at all 4 DJ locations (at the time) to play when the DJ was off duty. (Raptor, Millennium Force, Power Tower and Magnum) During the off season the Power Tower DJ was cut and we decided to create 3 different and unique mixes for each of the rides. Playing 80s at Magnum, while not exactly theming, seemed natural. Rock seemed to fit Raptor, we tried to mix current with classic. (no one ever noticed that we reversed "Vertigo has got to go because its so dangerous you have to sign a waiver" as a tribute to the fallen ride... very disappointing)
Millennium was a little trickier to figure out, so we aimed for progessive dance music (not techno) that would be upbeat, futuristic and fun. (Ironically the inspiration ended up being I think Walt's video of Cedar Point that featured the song Perfect Day by Hoku.) The goal was to find current or classic songs that people would like to listen to with a dance beat. (althought now I would apologize for inserting the dance remix cover of Bridge Over Troubled Water.. and also, I don't think I added the Phantom Remix)
I can't speak for how its been updated, but I suspect the spirit of the original goal remains... an upbeat, current and fun mix when the DJ can't be there.
and.. I'm a little happy we're still discussing it.
Is there anyway the park will ever play something that is not mainstream. For example, check out Digitalism, the Yeah Yeah Yeah's, Seabound, Aphex Twin, Apoptygma berzerk, The Editors, She Wants Revenge, Does It Offend You Yeah and about a hundred others that are family appropriate and fitting to certain rides/atmospheres.
Seriously. One time I requested "Just Like Heaven" by the Cure from the DJ. That song is very recognisable and well recieved (number one for 2 months in the late 80's) He said 'no, but I have Dave Matthews.'
Not even close. i don't think anyone there has ever heard of Depeche Mode.
Clearly sticking with music that most people have probably heard before is a safer bet than subjecting them to something they've never heard. You're more likely to please a wider audience.
^That kind of logic basically says Radio Stations/Music Download sites should not introduce new artists.
No they can, but a park trying to cater to the largest majority possible cant.
You're going to get Bon Jovi's Living on a Prayer and you're going to like it, and if you don't too bad because 7 out 10 people around you will.

Given the current state of the music industry, I wouldn't mind if that happened...
Can anyone help me out, I've tried to find the name of this song played in the line. While I was filming this song was playing in the back ground, see section 5:55 to 6:52 in my video.
Quote from a Corkscrew ride op, "And Dragster is down again"
I believe it is Alone by Lasgo. :)
Thank you Corkscrew Headache, been trying to figure that out for some time now. :)
