Millennium Force Original Layout??

There is a pretty common solution to this "space issue": engineering.

Just because there is no vast tract of land available for use doesn't meant that Cedar Point simply can't build anything anymore. It just means that they actually have to think when they build things (just like they did with Gatekeeper) as opposed to building a "RollerCoaster Tycoon" style coaster that takes up a certain amount of space that can never, ever be touched by any other element of the park.

Cedar Point will continue to grow and expand for many years to come. As enthusisasts, we should be happy that there is no large available tract of land, as it makes guessing where the next ride goes all the more fun.

Just look at Indiana Beach and Blackpool Pleasure Beach. They know how to utilize small amounts of space. In that regards, CP can add many more rides without having to remove anything. But, they choose not to go that route. I would love to see a few rides intertwining at CP.

One of the things I did agree with Kinzel on was his remark about how CP is mature in it's state of development. The park is not going to experience rapid growth like it did in the 1970s and again in the 90s. Which is another reason why the CP doesn't have a space problem.

^This. If they had to add a major coaster every 2 years then yes they most likely have a space problem. That is no longer the case so space is not a problem

Space is not truly an issue, There are many options, they could extend land and move the beach out (NY did this a 100 years ago :P ). They can intertwine safe parts of the rides and even run some in parallel.

Parking options can be worked over, remove some parking, add some more in some other places, even double layers and sunken garages.

they have space, they will not expand at a crazy rate, but they are not going to have issues.

I'm less interested in the argument of there being a space issue and more interested in whether Millennium Force had an original "Final" layout and then was changed. I've been on this site since 1999 and this space issue problem isn't even worth talking about anymore.

I've never heard anything about an "original" Millennium Force layout. The only thing I've heard in that regard is a supposed "original" TTD layout that a fan drew when they had TTD partially built. You can probably find it if you search around a little.

Originally Millennium Force had a 4th train. It was the Green train, but was lost during testing.

Kennywood has a space problem. If you want to see a park that really has an issue putting new stuff in, and can't without taking something out, that's it. Cedar Point has no such issue, and is a very long way from having that problem. I would even argue that it will never have the problem. As long as it maintains the same levels of attendance, it doesn't need, nor can it support substantially more rides unless it retires older ones.

Just looked it up on Google Maps...you weren't joking...

I always found Kennywood to be creative in how they utilize the space they have... I love the way that Phantom's Revenege and Thunderbolt interact with one another.

Kennywood recently bought the old rail property right next to them. Getting public access to it will be challenging. But, they're good on space for a while.

Funtrivia.com right?

Yep! Also, since this discussion went down the space track, what other locations do you see being cleared or utilized for future coasters, since they don't have a space issue?

Space or No Space I'm going to Cedar Point until there is no more Cedar Point or no more me. Technology always find a way make things happen and I think it hit it Big with Gatekeeper Project. Cedar Point manages to raise the bar for other coaster parks in the world. The technology starts in Sandusky then everyone else follows. I know there are other winged coasters out there and many great rides all over. But you have to believe they've been working on this project for a long long time(years). Just my opinion. Ride On.

Great pic, I see at least three coaster crammed in there. Where is that?

Cedar Point guest since 1974

^^Wow great pic, puts things in perspective. The only coaster at CP that overlaps is Mantis over Iron Dragon, and even that is minimal.

Grona Lund is a perfect example of "out of space". Yet they still keep expanding. Yes, they cant add some B&M mega coasters, they have to think efficiently why still catering to the needs and wants of guest. Just like Cedar Point, a small patch of land usually leads to a very unique design.

You're asking the wrong question.

Cedar Point is a mature park. It's not "growing" anymore in the sense that you are thinking. Attendance has more or less peaked to as high as it's going to go, and the park has no reason to really add attractions on top of what it already has. I would actually assume that the new normal will be what we saw this past season; the removal of an attraction or attractions to make way for something new, rather than blazing new territory. At least, that's how it stands for now from my understanding.

You can't have a space problem if you don't need anymore space.

I see your point, and I agree. Perhaps I should rephrase the question though. What attractions do you see being removed in future years to make way for something new?
