Millenium Force Paint Job

Cool. I was just wondering, I was there a couple days ago and MF looks newly painted although I was not looking throughout the whole ride so not sure if they did more panting or not.. It looked all the same color to me but I could be wrong?

Last time I was there, it looked like Millennium was starting to suffer the same dilemma that Firehawk went through with it's new colors.

That's not a dilemma, it's a problem.

It's your mother tongue, Adam! Learn it, know it, live it. ;)

Well from my standpoint, the "dilemma" is choosing to repaint with GOOD paint and prep the steel properly, or choose to paint it quickly and cheaply. And the "problem" I see is that they've already ran into this before. So your can take your "mother tongue" comment and stick it!;)

Of course there's nothing "cheap" about repainting a steel coaster. And the kind of real good paint jobs require a type of sprayer. I think the problem with Millennium is due to them repainting the entire rails. It looks like the only areas that are chipping are, indeed, the rails which makes sense considering that the train wheels do some wear and tear on the steel.

Maybe it's quicker or cheaper simply to paint the whole rail structure, rather than mask off the wheel track.

Oh, and consider your chain yanked. ;)

Just wondering, does anyone have any new pictures of Millennium Force paint job? I know this is last year's thread, but figured it would be a good time to bring it back.

Has anybody noticed the new paint is lighter than the paint they used when it first opened? Look at the RCDB pic below from 2000 and the YouTube POV link from fall of 2011. You can see the difference of the paint while going up the hill in the POV video.

My point is that the shade of blue they originally used in 2000 is different than the new shade they're using.

New paint is new paint. I wouldn't get caught up in how close it is to the old color. Just be thankful it's still blue. ;)

I'm curious if the awesome weather has given them a good head start on the painting?

Are you asking if you're curious? You tell us!

If you look on the CP webcams, you can really see the blue pop out on the Dragster cam.

Yah, I suppose that question mark was unnecessary. Although after seeing the twitter picture of the new paint going up, I suppose that answers my query.

I'm not so sure it is a different shade. You are basing that assumption on a still shot taken over a decade ago and an HD video, and there are a lot of other variables as well (besides better technology), such as time day, light exposure, etc.

And as Adam said, new paint is new paint, but I still bet its a pretty close match.

I don't know, without a color match book, we'll never know for sure. :)

It's one shade too light!!!! :P

Glad to see the rest of the project being completed this year. Goodbye blurple hello Millennium blue! :)

I can't remember, but did we ever get a confirmation on whether or not the rest of the supports would get done as well this year?

R.I.P. Mr. Scott

It wasn't blurple. It was moly blue.

Just out of curiousity how much does it cost to repaint a ride?

Here Come the Irish!

[url][url]In a recent tweet by John Hildebrandt you can see some progress on the Island portion of Millennium Force. Shes looking very blue!
