Even if completely justified, CP failed at one of most basic tasks, and that affected people.
I have trouble with the idea that the park "failed at one of [the] most basic tasks," because it presumes the park chose to approach opening day with little intention of having all rides up and ready. Given all that the company is doing right these days, I just don't believe that.
CP does indeed know when opening day is, and the park does indeed know how long a train refurbishment should take. No, we don't know that there was an unexpected delay... but why is an unexpected delay such an unreasonable assumption?
Or, it may well be that having three train operation on opening day just wasn't the priority for the park that it appears to be for some coaster enthusiasts.
Yes, anyone who buys a ticket into the park on any day of the season has a right to expect top level operations. But no one who buys a ticket into the park has a right to expect all rides to be operating at all times.
How many years after TTD was reliable were enthusiasts & Kinzel talking about its first seasons?
Fixed that for you.

I think most of the cars from the yellow train have sunk to the bottom of the Sandusky Bay next to the green train.

Now THAT is a sentiment that I have trouble with.
I agree, "no one who buys a ticket into the park has a right to expect all rides to be operating at all times." But, unless the park tells them otherwise, they do have a right to expect the park's BEST EFFORT to deliver what it promises. Do they have a right t expect WT to "be operating at all times?" No. Do they have a right to expect CP to make its best effort to have the rides it promotes "to be operating at all times?" Absolutely.
If CP chose not "to approach opening day with little intention of having all rides up and ready" than CP needs to tell people that, so they can come back on the days when CP would at least try to have what it advertises available to its guests. Perhaps CP could promote special days when it would give its best effort in exchange for a premium price.
Even if I agreed with you, we would be wrong, because CP says its goal is best effort EVERY DAY. Their stated goal--not mine.
Again, we have season passes and make multiple visits so things average out. People making one trip have a different perspective. Which is why CP disagrees with you.
Again tech is complicated, we get that. Coaster trains are as close to routine as it gets for a park. Can anyone remember a time when CP had this much trouble getting TRAINS (not more complicated tech, but trains, ready 5 DAYS after Opening Day? 2nd day air has been around a while.

than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
A) I believe the park did make its best effort to deliver. Not all aspects of a ride that is down are under the park's control -- for example, if a part has to be manufactured, it takes the amount of time it takes to manufacture the part.
B) That the park approached opening day with little intention of having all rides up and ready is the underlying presumption of your position, not mine.
C) I think the park does make its best effort each day. Some days it's going to fall short. I go to work each day intending to make my best effort. Sometimes I fall short.
D) People making one trip to the park during the season are likely not enthusiasts, ticking off the number of trains on the track; and many of them mayn't ride a coaster at all during their visit.

As much as I can't STAND the song from Frozen, every time I see more posts about the yellow train, all I can think is "LET IT GO!"
IIRC, isn't May usually one of the slowest months of operation. Maybe it'll be ready by June when crowds get heavy. Patience my friends, and have faith in the maintenance department.

Actually, no. I assumed that they had a plan in place and made their best effort. They, for whatever reason, failed. Perhaps because of bad planning, perhaps for reasons beyond their control. But they failed.
And maybe they were hit by a million to one fluke or a Perfect Storm. But no one has given a single example of a year in which CP had this much trouble getting coaster TRAINS ready even 5 days after Opening Day.

On to the name of the conversation "Millennium Force Fiberglass Trains" do they look any different?
Do they feel different? I can't go to the park for another week. I am really itching to go. I need me some Cedar point
They do not really feel or look different other than they are brand new and clean. On Monday a ride op told me that the fiberglass for the third train is not complete yet.
2008 visits = 38, 2009 = 19, 2010 = 11, 2011 = 14, 2012 = 10, 2013 = 14, 2014 = 14, 2015= 13, 2016 = 11, 2017 = 5, 2018 = 3
Seems that the parts for the train are not ready. Thus causing a delay in getting up to a 3 train operation. If you don't want to wait the extra time you don't have to. The park does not offer a guarantee that all rides will be operational or that all the trains will be operating. It is fairly common that something is down almost every hour of operation during the season. All of Cedar Fair's park are seasonal except for Knott's Berry Farm. How do you think that Knott's or Disney do their standard maintenance? If they don't have an offseason they are doing it on a rotating basis. Even though Six Flags Magic Mountain has the most coasters that is not a guarantee that they operate the most coasters on any given day. And I'd bet that it's not uncommon for a ride at those parks that operate year round to be down for days at a time due to routine maintenance.
Only question I have is if people who visit those parks whine and cry about it as much as people do on this site? Is this a problem consistent with all coaster enthusiasts or just this one given site? I mean if you really have to ride Millenium but it's only running 2 trains that seems like a problem more associated with your agenda and personal desires forcing you to chose whether to wait in the line or pass it up. Doesn't really have anything to do with the park. The only thing that you are guaranteed when you pay to get in the park is that you will be allowed to walk through the gate and into the park. I don't see how one train can cause such an outcry or concern. Because at no time was it ever said that the ride is a lock to run at all.

You obviously don't frequent Disney nerd sites.

It may be associated with the early onset of EES (Enthusiast Entitlement Syndrome).

Dragster wasn't running opening day 2011, or opening weekend if I recall I know for sure it was down all of opening dayMaxair was also down for awhile in the beginning of 2011
Sky Ride was down due to repairs a few years back (might have even been my season not too sure)

See BGW with Tempesto this season
Windseekers all over
Goliath was delayed opening
Verruckt the insane water coaster was super delayed
Smiler at Alton Towers had issues opening on time.
Stuff happens, yes there are schedules and timetables to hit, but again, stuff happens. Sit back, relax, enjoy the other 70+ rides, soon to be open Live E, and fantastic midway food, and of course the lake! One coaster inoperable bites, one coaster running at decreased capacity bites, but there's so much more to do and lingering on these issues goes nowhere..
I'm not ignoring you Devarious.
All of those rides involved higher tech rides, not coaster trains, which are fairly basic: wheels, axels, etc. When have comparativly low tech coaster trains caused CP this much trouble?
If it because the new shell wasn't ready, CP cannot be happy a supplier failed to meet their deadline. Of course the supplier can use the Animal House defense: "You f#*ked up--you trusted us"

There's a bit more to it than that. Again how do we know it's because of the shell too, that could be part of why it's down. Ever think hey maybe there's a issue with the welds they found during NDT, maybe there's an issue with getting a replacement part they needed. Maybe it needed a more extensive overhaul of certain components. Again, all you're doing is speculating as an enthusiast. It could be simple, it may not be. Complaining won't get us anywhere. All we can do is watch and wait for Cedar Point to get it up and running which they will, just let them work it out. They've been doing this for many many years, I think they know what to do.
