Midway Market

Been lurking around the boards for awhile, and did a search and found nothing on the midway market.

In october i will be going to cedar point for my second time, last time we just ate fries and shakes to keep us from starving to death. But i heard about midway market on the boards and this time i want to check it out.

A. How much does it cost?

B. What kind of food does the buffett have?

C. Can you go back as often as you can, during the day?

Thanks for anyone who can give me some information.

A. Good question! As we learned on a Saturday in July, the price can apparently change in the middle of the day. We entered for $10, and when we left, it was up to $13!

B. Park food. Actually, it's a little better than that. You'll find an assortment of burgers, pizza, pasta, salads, desserts, etc.

C. Absolutely not. I don't think they'd want 50,000 park guests paying once and returning all day.

DELETED! What time does the water show start?

a) It's slightly cheaper for lunch than it is for dinner

b) It varies a little...the lunch buffet is park food, but the dinner menu is a little fancier and a little heavier. Because the menu changes, it isn't necessarily a good idea to go there for a late lunch, although that might be a way to get some of the dinner food for the lunch price.

b) One word... cheesecake. Wow is it delicious.

Interesting Dave, I've not found any difference in the menu at all at any time of day, 11 am to 8 pm.

I've only been to Midway Market once this season and payed $10 during lunch time. My friend went later in the day and payed $13 and he got different food than what I had. It did seem like his selection of food was rather fancier, although they did have a few of the same items. This was sometime back in May.

Chris, everything I say is a lie. Except that. And that. And that and that and that and that and that. And that.

Jeff -

The only difference from lunch and dinner (besides price) is that lunch has hamburgers and dinner has mini corn dogs, chicken tenders and mac-and-cheese instead. During lunch the kid's area of the buffet has the toppings for the burgers, at dinner the kid's section has the other items.

I like food so Midway suits me well :)

I disagree... I've had burgers at both times.

It's been a while since I ate there. But I seem to recall that in the late afternoon as the price went up, the tacos and burgers disappeared and the carved roast beef materialized. One thing that has been constant in all my visits, though, is the Cream of @#$%ing Broccoli soup. Ewwwwww!

--Dave Althoff, Jr.

Wow Dave. I had all this respect for you and you had to lose it by dissing the Cream of Broccoli soup. :) I haven't had it at the Point in a while so maybe they messed it up or something. I've seen the carved beef for lunch, though. When is the most opportune time for the mini corn dogs? Those things are pretty good.

------------------
I own you!

Actually at dinner they add roast beef to the menu.

I guess then it's safe to assume at this point that what is served is very nearly random, and only the price is different. We went there almost every Friday night for Halloweekends in 2001, then we were shocked to find the higher price on a night in 2002 and never went back.

I think it's worth every penny at $10, but anything higher is not.

Don't forget the added (10% I believe) discount if you happen to have a Joe Cool season pass. This came in handy before I processed in and wanted something of a better variety to eat. Always been a fan of the food there, and as it has been said the food selection is pretty much random.

There's a JCC discount? There was a kids-eat-free deal in May, but I didn't know there was still a discount active.

It's not war, famine, or pestilence; it's only downtime.

The JCC discount was only until the end of May! :-(

The roast beef was quite yummy!!!!! (I'm getting hungry just thinking about it). Actually, and I might be mistaken, but I think alot of their stuff comes from Gordon Food Service. http://www.gfs.com/

Lee, you might be able to find your cheesecake there. I know they have retail stores throughout the midwest and carry a wide variety of foods to choose from.

I remember reading on one of the restaurant's menu, Breakwater I think, that the deserts come from CP's own commissary bakery. I bet the Midway Market deserts are probably also made there, instead of GFS.

than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

joe, it's nothing against Midway Market's Cream of @#$%ing Broccoli soup in particular; I just happen to hate Cream of @#$%ing Broccoli soup in general. In fact, the smell of it is one of those few things that can actively turn my stomach. Ewwww!

--Dave Althoff, Jr., who apparently has something in common with President George Bush I...

I do believe they do get their food from GFS. Their pizza and burgers tasted EXACTLY like my school's food, and they get their stuff from GFS as well.

Crap, don't I feel like a tool then. I've yet to use my JCC pass for anything other than early entry.
