Midway is flooded!

Looks like more rain for Sandusky here all of the warnings and stuff:

~ SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING UNTIL 330 AM EDT( 6/22/06)

~ FLASH FLOOD WARNING UNTIL 600 AM EDT (6/22/06)

You guys are no longer under a Tornado Watch, but there may be more severe weather later today (6/22/06).

When I first saw the skyhawk cam (only looked at the cams for about a minute or two). I thought first the power was out on Skyhawk, like lighting hit it or something, but then I saw the archive stuff, and I was like ok not eventful.

Edit @ 3:40am Et: The Servere Thunder Storm Warning for Sandusky Has been allowed To expire. You guys now have a Flash Flood Warning until 6am Et. Goodnight. I hope Cedar Point is not floodied too much.

I just check the storm predication website and there is a slight risk for bad weather in Ohio.

This is headed towards CP/Detroit. Should be another interesting day. Nothing else projected as severe, but it wasn't for Monday around here, either...

Michigan will stay dry today.

Is that hopeful thinking, or educated forecasting, Ben?

I hope for the latter, as I have softball practice this evening.

Well, I'll take that back, it may rain a bit, but we shouldn't see any storms.

Indiana is under a moderate risk of bad weather

It has been raining in Holland, Michigan since noon, Ben.

You guys shouldve seen it last night around 10:30 here (im in mansfield this week). It was seriously a scene straight out of war of the worlds for over an hour. The entire sky was nothing but lighting, but no wind, rain, or thunder. It was probably one of the most interesting things i've ever seen because it never let up for over an hour. Just lightning every 2/3 seconds constantly. Too bad im in between cameras right now and i couldnt get any of it on film :-(

Currently on tour: Who knows where

That was some crazy weather last night...
We had two tornados here in Temperance, MI (just north of Toledo).
The roof collapsed on one of the gyms at my high school..crazy weather.

We don't need a play-by-play of the weather in every market. No one cares. We can all look this stuff up or watch TV on our own.

The video was shot in Brunswick.

STORYTIME!
I live in sylvania, ohio (just out side of toledo) and was at the franklin park mall last night watching a movie in the new movie theater with my girlfriend. Well, about halfway though the movie, the film shut off the lights came up and we had to evacuate the theater. They had security escort everyone to safer cooridors in the building because the TORNADOS were headed our way. When we went downstairs, the entire mall entrance was completely flooded. and they had an army of squeegies trying to keep out the water. After a couple hours and inch and 3/4 size hail (thats about a golf ball) they gave us the all clear. So we headed up to the theater again. We found out that they couldn't re-open the theater because the mall wouldn't let them, so they gave us all re-enter passes if we had our ticket stubs. It had stopped raining for the moment and we headed to or jeep liberty. The second level of the parking lot was under a foot or so of water. We headed out (in 4x4 mode... forth time its come in handy in only a few months)
Leaving the mall sylvania ave was under 2-3 feet of water in the right lane, which we forged through, hey if we can handle the rubicon trail, then the water isn't that bad, besides I know how deep the road is there. Well, the little cavileer that followed behind us wasen't so lucky, they got stuck and floated their way out.
So we get home, now our apartment is half under ground with windows an inch above ground level. We fought water coming in the windows for a few hours, and finally went to bed. A block away from us, they had standing water SIX feet high! We got lucky! Oh and I was at CP a couple days ago when THAT storm hit! We hid in our jeep from the hail, JUST made it to the car before it got really nasty that day.

oh, as a side note, there was this awesome shot of a fallen tree on the news, the tree had a fork so it looked like a Y, and it fell just barely, i mean by inches, missed crushing a house in the center of the fork. They were LUCKY

You got lucky that your car didn't stall. What kind of car, truck, or SUV do you have?

There's a reason the NWS has a 'Turn Around Don't Drown!' campaign going on.

Here's my take on the June 19 storm, which was mostly discussed here. I'm an NWS employee in Detroit. The front edge of a line of thunderstorms often produces a "shelf cloud", which to the untrained can appear like a wall cloud. However, a shelf cloud is on the leading edge of an area of storms, and slopes away from rain. Wall clouds are usually located near the back of storms, and slope down and towards the rain.

There was some talk here of the "wall cloud" stretching along the entire line of storms, and that just isn't true. Wall clouds are isolated lowerings of the base of a rotating thunderstorm. The storm reports filed did not indicate any tornado activity anywhere in the upper midwest that day. (note: we sure as heck made up for that last night!)

Occasionally, weak tornadoes can spin up near a storm's shelf cloud, which is also associated with the gust front (these are called gustnadoes). These are pretty rare, and fairly weak, though.

Still, shelf clouds are very impressive, and given the degree of hail we got out of these storms in Michigan and also in Ohio on the 19th, the reports of green sky (which is caused by hail) are certainly valid.

Thanks for posting the June 19 video, and those June 21 pictures from the webcams that got posted are very impressive too.

I have a jeep liberty... not the neon in my picture.. i got rid of that car. Its rated for water like that... I want to take it to camp jeep this year, but I'm not gonna have time. Three feet is exagerating, it was about 20 inches.... which the manual says to go ahead! *** Edited 6/23/2006 12:06:36 AM UTC by liebevision***
