It's not terrible, but it is a bit mind-numbingly boring at times. Especially on days when not alot of people are in the park. No one listens to you when you spiel, and at least... 9 years ago.... wow... the spiel was one of the more longwinded and verbose ones.
It's a very simple ride to operate, you open the gate, let riders in, for each one that comes in you click your little counter, once everyone waiting or (rarely)the ride is full, you close the gate and do a walk around to make sure that everyone is seated properly on a horse. Get back to your stool, give the starting spiel and turn the key to start the ride. You need to watch the ride to make sure people stay seated properly. The ride runs for a pre determined time, when it shuts off and begins to slow you give your exit spiel. Rinse, later, repeat. I can and have taught someone to operate it in 5 minutes.
You get a lot of families with young children who sit on the bench, and usually they're nice. The only troublesome part is usually teenagers who try to ride the horse in "creative" way.
The best part is that you get to run Demon Drop too! It's one of the most fun rides in the park to work and... oh wait...

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of :/ And I know they say it's a tentative ride position, but how much chance is there that you'd actually be switched out of that kind of ride?
So they used to co-train for that and demon-drop?
Midway Carrousel is now paired with Ocean Motion, so you'll be working that ride too. Don't worry, there is a lot of opportunity to cross-train, and depending on when you process in you might end up on a completely different ride all together.

2011: Raptor
2012: Raptor, Sky Ride and Wicked Twister
2013: Co-Team Leader of Sky Ride
2014: Supervisor of Slingshot/Skyscraper
Well that's good. Most cross training would occur in the same area though, right? And my process in date is May 5th, if that means anything
I worked Ocean Motion/Midway Carousel last year. Its not all bad really. It can be fun if you are optimistic. Last year we had a few people on our crew that didn't like it much but they had fun because our crew was amazing. If you have a pretty good crew they can make it fun. Carousel I liked sometimes when I just wanted to work alone. But be careful the music just might make you crazy! Just kidding. Well it might get stuck in your head. Since you are processing in May 5th you will probably defiantly be starting on that ride. Always remember its your crew that counts.

2013- Turnpike Cars/Calypso, Wicked Twister
Ocean Motion has 2 people. One in Controls and one on Platform. You still work with your crew, you will always see them when rotating and such.

Not entirely. There was someone on my crew last year (Ocean Motion) who got sent to Snake River Falls for about half a week. I once got sent to Matterhorn Triangle to work through a split. So majority of cross training does happen within the area. But it is possible to get sent out of the area if you are needed there.
