Michigan's Adventure 7/17/06

We loaded up the car and left the Flint area about 8:00am. Traffic wasn't bad at all and the road construction areas were flowing smoothly. We got to the park just after opening. The crowd level wasn't to bad for a Friday. The coasters and flat rides were a bit loaded up early in the day, but cleared up as the temps rose and the water park filled up quick. Rode Shivering Timbers atleast 30 times. I'll never get tired of that ride. The front seat is definitely the best place to ride the airtime is great!

My son who is now 2 got his first ride on Zach's Zoomer this year. He loved every minute of it. I can't wait till next year when he can ride the big ones.

I had a real good time but for the crowd level being so low.... the parking lot was only about 1/2 full. The service at the coaster's resturant was horrible. I waited in line 25 minutes to get up to the cashier and be told "I have to stop taking orders now." Then he walked away and said nothing more. The management really needs to talk to the employees about customer service. The lady behind me tried to say all I need is a shake! but he didn't care a bit. They were busy but I think they should expect that. Maybe they were just short on help but the kitchen couldn't keep up at all. so for about 10 minutes we all just stood there customers, cashiers, and waitresses, while they waited for the cooks to catch up. all I saw in the kitchen was 2 people. Horrible!

The ride op's were doing great dispite the heat. Props to Jenna on Shivering Timbers. She was checking restraints. The other guy was being about as lazy as could be. She had the whole train and 2 or 3 cars from his side checked before he even got his butt moving. I couldn't catch his name because his name tag wasn't on very good and was partially covered. Guys like that make everyone look bad. If you don't want to be there then get a new job.

Grand Rapids is a great ride. They need a few more water falls though. Once the trees grow and the rest of the landscaping is all set it will really be great. I think it may be better than Thunder Canyon. But I haven't been on that in a few years now so I ride it next time i go to make sure.

All in all a good time was had by all. We are planning on going again in a few weeks so the kids can enjoy the wave pools some more.
