Michigan's Adventure

Has anyone been to Michigan's Adventure (owned by CP) this year? Last time I went was about 3 years ago before CP bought it and it wasn't a great place to go, the waterpark wasn't too bad though. I want to use my season pass there.
It is very small but very cool, the park looks alot better now then when Cedar Fair didn't own it. Great little park worth the drive, and Shivering TImbers is awesome.

I live less than an hour away and have been there several times this year. Timbers alone is worth the trip. Bring your swimsuit! The waterpark is a great place to spend the afternoon and is included in admission--Season Pass or Daily. Visit their website to see what's new since your last trip.

Yes. Shivering Timbers is definately worth the trip alone. They did some work on the trains this year too, reupholstering seats and dividers and installing all new seat belts.

What happened to the family that used to own it? Do they have any imput on how the park is ran?

------------------
Ohio State, here I come!

Well, one of the family members is now once again the park's General Manager. She was removed from that position for a single season of indoctrination by Cedar Fair, then went back to running the park once the conversion to a Cedar Fair park was complete.

Michigan's Adventure is a family park. They have some big thrills like Shivering Timbers & a fantastic waterpark (all for one price!). If you don't live too far from it, you should pay a visit. If you live more than 3-4 hours away, wait until they build a major new thrill ride. The park has huge potential and tons of land to build on. I bet in a couple of years we will see a big coaster there.

I live 3 hours from MiA and I still make the trip. There have been some changes since 3 years ago, finished rides (train, BeBop Bvd, train), the Dodgems were added, new bathrooms and lots of "fixing up", including cleaning of some of the water features and landscaping.

Wolverine wildcat has been retracked in several spots making it a much smoother ride.

Considering you have a season pass, it's well worth a trip. Unless they meet their projected attendance or see a larger ROI (return on investment) you will not see anything major happening. Which is another reason WHY you should make the trip.

I'm going to Michigan's Adventure in two weeks. What is ST like? Is it rough or smooth?

Where would we be without CP?:)

i work there, its not that bad for michigan, but compared to cedar point, its a playground. ride shivering timbers a few times, then plan on spending the rest of your day in the water park - those are the only two things worth it there. and if you're there - pay hydroblaster or adventure falls a visit and give me something to do!

ST is the smoothest woodie I've ever been on. It's not as rough as some of the steel coasters I've been on. Overall, a great ride.

Some people have complained about it being rough, but I don't think it is. The airtime over the 3rd and 4th hills is pretty extreme...you go up hard and come down hard (I liken it to Magnum's bunnyhops). There are some strong laterals in the turnaround and helix, and you get shaken back and forth on the tricktrack after the double-up.

It runs slower in the morning, but once it warms up, it kicks!

I have to disagree with PKevin. The wild mouse, wolverine wildcat and Zach's Zoomer are all worth riding. Even the lowly corkscrew deserves a spin. Although the couple times I've been there has been during cooler weather, Hydroblaster and Adventure Falls look like fun, and I've heard great things about the water park.

Bring some extra funds if you want to ride the Ripcord that swings you out over the lake.

I have visited Michigan's Adventure twice this year. Shivering Timbers is definitely worth the 3 hour drive for me and I've had 20 laps on it this season. It is a perfect example of a coaster's fun factor outweighing the roughness. It's not smooth, it's a wooden coaster. Is it a great ride? Heck yeah! The trains look a little rough to me. One of the lap bars was loose(not the "lap" part, I'm talking about where it connects to the bottom side of the train) and the side padding on one of the seats was extremely loose( I could have just yanked it off). It is a very small park. If you don't do water rides and slides, there is very little to do there besides Shivering Timbers.

i didnt mean the other rides were completely worthless, but they're not much of a thrill after youve been to cedar point - at least for me...

MiA is no Cedar Point, that is for sure. If you go expecting lots of thrills, you will be in for disappointment. But I still think it's worth a visit, especially if one has a season pass to one of the other CF parks.

The best part? Short lines!!

I was just there 3 days ago(as i live 20 mins away from teh park) and have been tehre lord knows how many times. But when i went teh waits were, at first, pretty heavy, everyone somehow thought waiting 30 minutes for wildcat was worth it. But shivering timbers had a WAY short line the whole day, half the people i heard were to scared. all the better for me and my friend izz, we road it four times, 2 front 2 back, front for me is my favorite, i hang over the front its like flying sorta lol, but backs fun cuz u get whipped over the top, eatherway this is a world class coaster, my but never touched the seat lol

lol, my MiA...

ST is worth the trip.

BTW, does anyone want to ride my 100th lap with me next week?

I'm at 35 for this year, CPFreakJon. What day and what time do you hope to make 100?

Sorry to go slightly off track, but is'nt MiA making plans for a hyper or an inverter next year?
That's a big question, BDS. Many things depend it happening. We shall see...
