I decided to drive to CP this year after a 2 year absence at the park. We were coming from Miami so we went to Charleston, WV and stayed the night there. Myself and my kids(10 and 15). My son, 10 had never been and my daughter and I had been 3 times since 2001.
On Sunday the 7th we left for CP and got tthere around 1:30pm. Checked into the hotel early(Knights Inn on Cleveland Road) thanks to the friendly staff. We go to the park about 3pm.
NO LINES!! EVERYTHING was 15 minutes or less except Maverick, which took 20 minutes. A lot of walk ons! Rode everything at least once and got the last row, last car of the night on MF! This was a day to remember as it was like i died and went to coaster heaven with no lines. I thought maybe Monday-Wednesday would be even less crowded. I was wrong!
Monday was ERT on MF. Got the first car(used the Marina entrance). Got in a couple of rides. Pretty busy from about 11am on. Waits were no longer than 45 minutes for anything, though. Tuesday and Wednesday were busier and waits for Maverick were 1 1/2 hour on wednesday. MF topped out at 1 1/4 hour waits on Wednesday. There seemed to be a lot of buses with kids Monday-Wednesday.
We ate in the car every day except one day that we ate at Joe Cool Cafe. We ordered subs. Not really anything to speak of as far as quality. Nice to sit down and enjoy the a/c, though. We ate at the Fridays in Castaway Bay, also. Again, nothing great worth reporting.
As far as the hotel, Knight Inn, it was definitely worth the price($54/night). The room was cleaned every day and the pool was heated. The fridge was a good size too. Also, we had a room close to the train tracks but the trains did not blow their horns and it was not an issue at all. They did come often, though!
Most of the rides were down at least once during our stay except MF. Raptor, Magnum, TTD, Maverick, Wicked Twister, Skyhawk, Iron Dragon. Most delays were not lengthy and they were up and running quickly as we noticed them working from afar even when we didn't wait it out.
It took until Wednesday to ride Skyhawk. It was dowen pretty much every time walked by it, which was frequently over the 4 days. We did get to ride it, though.
Overall, it was an awesome trip and we all agreed CP is our favorite park. Great atmosphere, a lot of excitement created by the staff, not a lot of rowdy people in line, and the best coasters on the planet!

Ok, as in Miami, Florida??
I make the trip from Orlando quite often! When you live down here, Cedar Point can be as wonderful as Disney is to some of you in the Midwest!
I agree with that. Also, theme parks are amazing down here but the re-ride factor is not as great on a themed ride, no matter how good it is, than a great coaster. Rides like Spiderman, Mission:Space, Shrek, can be amazing the first few times but after that they fizzle out. You need that "rush" to keep wanting more. At least I do.
I'm familiar with Aventura Mall. It's on the northeast end of Miami. Not sure what you are asking, though.

For sure! I totally agree with this... And for whoever said theming is cool but doesn't have much reride value, it tends to be very true. Disney (at least for me) is fun once, but there's nothing thrilling about it. I'd much rather have a park with 17 coasters! I can understand how Disney would be a treat for those who don't live in the area, but I don't care much for it after living next to it for a long time and going a few dozen times in my life.
My best friend lives in Tampa. She has been visiting her family in Michigan for the summer, and I took her to Cedar Point for her first time yesterday. She loved the park, rides, everything.
I asked her how Cedar Point compared to the Florida theme parks. She replied with Cedar Point being better than all of them put together. So there ya go. :)
"You wanna, you gotta, you hafta hold on, Cedar Point...HOLD ON!"
