MF Opening Day

This is a topic that has been beat to death, but I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering. What are the belts like on MF this year. Longer, shorter, or no noticable difference? I'd appreciate some feedback. Thanks.

i did not notice anything different about the belts (length or anthing else) i thought they were the same as lat year

MF.. 47................Dragster..24

Maverick. one amazing ride! first person from the SC gates to ride on its opening day! besides red cross
Maverick rides = 18

Is it just me or did it seem to be running uncharachtaristically slow intervals today?

It's probably (by that i mean is) a new crew. Cut them some slack on their first day with thousands of people in line for their ride. They will get the hang of it.

Well, when we went on the JC entry we were the 8th train out and the previous 7 was non stop. We also waited in line when the rest of our crew came in at 10:00 and had about a half hour wait and it was still a non stop. I think they did a great job at least til that point.

The crew this year isn't the crew last year. Even though the 2006 season had much more downtime than 2004 and 2005, the crew were so good that they beat both years numbers by over 100,000 riders. If you factor in the downtime and lost efficiency because of changes in ride operation, they probably could have matched or beat 2001's numbers.

Just to add to the discussion, either I lost more weight then I thought I did this winter or the belts are a little longer. Its to the point where its feasible for me to see myself actually riding it by the end of the summer if I loose just a few more pounds.

Don't forget that the seatbelt lengths vary from seat to seat.

well i didnt notice any difference they looked the same and yes the 2007 crew are filled with new people still, so we just need to give them time to speed up. i think everyone that went on OD noticed the difference in speed.

The belts are definitely longer this year. I was told last week that they were, but reserved judgment until I saw for myself. It's hard for me to say how much longer, as I'm about 10 pounds heavier than last year, but I fit much easier than I ever have since they first installed the shortened belts. I pulled at least an inch without even trying to struggle with it, so if I had to guess, I'd say they're about 2 inches longer, but that's a very rough guess. Last year, when I was a few pounds heavier, I got into Dragster with no problem. Dragster's belts haven't changed this year, and I struggled with it a bit today. Just further proof that Millennium's definitely got longer.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

^^^ Yeah, it wasn't meant to be derogatory towards the new crew, I completely understand, I was just asking if it was how I saw it onn the funcam, because I saw three Dragster trains go for every one Millenium Train..

Well I wasn't going to say anything about the belts, because I don't want them to fix them.

But at first they seemed about 1" longer, I couldn't figure it out why I click in so easily, I usually have a 1/2" of slack left.

While waiting on the brake run I look at the seat belt and all of them were below that 1" diameter hand rail, not above them like on TTD, and the way it was last year on MF.

I hope this is a seatbelt change that will last, because if they re-route them above the hand rail, I may not fit...

GATEKEEPER-I came, I rode, I was mildly disappointed; until a second ride (rear left) put GateKeeper back on the...it's a nice ride list.

They were under the rail last year. In previous years, they were over the bar but they changed them before opening day last year.

While i was waiting in line and watching the trains go by, it seemed like the trains after the first drop were going slower through the circuit. It seemed to crawl over the the 2 hills after the first tunnel. Then when i rode it, everything seemed the same until those hills as we slowly coasted over. It might just be me but it was very noticable in my mind. Did anyone else notice this, and if so do you think it was probably just the wind?
And we got to sit in Millenniums cars for 15mins extra at the station, who doesn't love a longer ride? :)

It seemed like near the end of the day MF was running awesome intervals, usually to the point where the returning train didn't have to stop before the unloading station. It did also seem that the belts were a little longer, I had a bit more slack than usual, not much though.

Well, that's good to know. While I've never had trouble riding, it is always a pretty snug fit. Maybe they actually listened to all the complaints and made the belts a little more accomodating this year. Should make for a better year.

So since Iread that the belts are longer, can a 42 waist fit?? Since the past 2 years I couldn't ride due to this issue, I'm still a 42 and 275.

My guess is that it has to break in new wheels? Just a guess.

Kw's Phantom's trains got a referb this offseason and were going slower on opening day. I went back this Saturday, and they were running faster, but not up to normal speed. I give it a week, and back to the Phantom we all love.

Give Millie some time and she'll be running like normal in no time at all.

I'll let you know what it is like.... My friend is going with us tomorrow and he a is 42" waist. If he can ride then you may be able too.

Thanks BG, just so tired of fitting in the test seat and not on the ride.
