Most people that come from the Metro Dertoit area may have a tough time getting to Cedar Point for the next two years. A large portion of I-75 will be closed runing near the Ambasador Bridge about a mile and a half. Yes there is a couple other routs around it but will increase travel time about an hour. My question is how many people will make the trip this year?

If the "MDOT Ambassador Gateway Project" is the construction project your talking about, the official detour would be to use I-94 to I-275. When I plug it in on Microsoft Streets and Trips, it tells me that it's only a 10 minute detour.

Cross the Detroit River at the tunnel, take highway 3 to Leamington or Kingsville and take the Pelee Island ferry to Sandusky. It's not the fastest or cheapest way to go, but you will avoid I-75 around the Ambassador Bridge, have a nice trip through Windsor and Essex County, get the opportunity to visit Pelee Island and get to CP in a way that few people take.
If you go, bring back 2 Chet & Matt's take and bakes! (make it 3)
Alrightyyy...i-94 to i-75 to i-275 back to i-75 then take i-75 to highway 2 in ohio then I'm there :)
So stoked for 2010 :]

Not that I dislike driving through Cananda (quite the opposite) but that has to be the worst detour I have ever heard. Truth is, this contruction is pretty localized. Just take I-94 or I-96 around it if you are coming from the North. Or hell, I-696 to 275 if you are even further north.

I live downriver so luckily that section of I-75 won't effect me at all. But yes, you can always take I-94 back to I-75 to get on the freeway.

No one said it's the best detour, just trying to promote local tourism and this is in fact quite an awsome way to cross Lake Erie and get to an awesome destination. If you have the time, try it, you will not be dissapointed.
Well thank you for the help. I will def be there waiting in those lines with you all. See you all there!
Horray for Metro Detroiters!!! :) Stupid construction season. I swear its one of the 4 we have. Construction Season (Summer), End of construction season (fall), too cold and snowy for construction so lets plan it season (winter) and Construction Starting season (spring)
So stoked for 2010 :]

Welcome to Michigan. :D
Anyway, this won't be affecting me... Luckily, I-275 meets up with I-75 below the Ambassador bridge, so many of us won't need to worry. However, due to being a posted detour, there will likely be a short delay. Still, I am optimistic that the Ambassador Gateway Project or whatever they called this thing will not be that big of a deal overall. This will definitely not keep me from going back. Especially not the year I get my license. Can't wait!
Thanks for the heads up, the construction looked bad last time I took the drive down there. The detour seems really far out of my way.
How long is the closure?

We do a ton of buisness, where I work, in Detroit and I'm pretty familiar with the area where the construction is. My personal suggestion would be to take I-94 south to M-39(southfield) which will lead you back to 75. It's a hell of alot shorter than taking 94 all the way to 275 back to 75, trust me!
Here's the route I strongly suggest.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v175/Dragster420/route.jpg

I'm with TTD 120mph. I lived on in Canton for a while and 94/275 is way out of the way. That's gotta be at least a half hour out of the way. The M-39 suggestion is much better.

If it isn't snowing or butt cold in Michigan, there's road construction in Michigan.

Thanfully I looked at a MAP! DUA There is plenty of ways to get around that Construction. There are 3 alt routs. Take I-94 to M-39 to I-75. Or I-94 to US-24 to I-75. Or the long way I-94 to I-275 to I-75 So hopfully it wont be to bad. All i know its not going to keep me from going. Im acctually planning to take a trip down in April With my friends and my girl friend to pick up our seasion passes. Ill let you know how much longer it will take us.
When is there ever not construction? Sheesh.
Ambasador Bridge about a mile and a half
Where is that?
Are you asking where the bridge crossing Detroit River is?
