Metal Detectors

One time when I was going to SF:WOA i had a can of pop in my pocket. As I was walking through the metal detector it went of. None of the security guards noticed. This shows how useful the metal detectors are
One day... I was at SFDL and there was a guy that got into a huge fight because they wouldn't let him into the park with a huge rifle. Same day 50 cent was at the park...
Peppermint: You're talking about Six Flags. CP police actually care and aren't some cheap rent-a-cop trainees. Not saying that being inexperienced is a 'bad' thing, but that's most likely only the reason you got through with a 'pop'.

If you had a can of pop in your pocket and the metal detector went off...

...I kind of wonder what *else* you were carrying.

Magnetometers usually work on ferrous metals, which means they won't detect aluminum pop cans. Or for that matter, high-grade stainless steel tools and knives.

Also, on the same page - they won't detect money. (or am I wrong) So for it to detect a can of pop with a similar makeup... something else had to be on your person.
Some coins wil be detected, some coins won't. Depends on the exact metal content.

Maybe it's a different kind of detector, but My Fiance recently got a job at a prison. I've sat in the entry area a few times waiting for her to come out and I've been suprise at the things that have set off the detector. Among the employee pant zippers. And if you've ever seen an entry area in a prison you know they won't let you go through the detector until they are sure you don't have anything else in your pockets and such.

Point being, A zipper is pretty small. I wouldn't be suprised if a coin could set off a detector or drink can.

I think they do detect money. Because one time i was at an airport and I had pockets filled with quarters and the metal detector went off.

Ok. The security guads did not know it was pop. They should still notice if the metal detector goes off.

I would hope we remove them, they cause an amazing bottlekneck during opening. However, we have confiscated some froms of weaponary. Nothing insane, anything major was in the hands of clothed policemen visiting the park. Its a catch 22 really.

Coins and such are too small to set off the metal detectors (otherwise every singe person would need to be searched with all the ridiculous things they bring). They go by metal amount. Pop cans set them off every single time.
