Metal Cages and Weird Supports

I think the weird cages are for a stage maybe ever for the announcing of the new ride. have you thought of that
I don't have a problem believing that there's going to be an elevator I have a problem believing that those metal cages are a part of it. Can someone take their argument to the next step and explain how a bunch of metal cages (that look to be the size of track, and no I'm not saying that they're track) will form an elevator?
do you believe in magic...
i was on the magnum and gemini when i saw some of those weird looking cage things. i dont know. its another part of the puzzle i dont think we'll solve all that soon
Yes,some sort of elevator will be there, the track for it will undoubtedly hook to the catwalks,it will probably be similar to the one for MF.
First of all, those are not "cages" the are pieces of truss.

Second, if for some reason that is staging truss, it is unlike any staging/roof/lighting/sound truss I have ever worked with.

I fool so feelish...

So maybe it's just truss to help the workers put this thing together instead of going up in cherry-pickers to weld and solder and screw things together up there?

The cages are definitely for some sort of lift system. There's a track with teeth running through the "cages". You can see them here as the black line running through the structure of each section. As for the wierd support, I think it's going to be the center of the top hat's curve and supports will radiate from it. The three main support towers will eventually bend in towards the center to support this union.

Looking at the original picture the metal "cages" look more like dumbed down Intamin box track....

i have to say its gonna be an elevator thats gonna hit 452 feet. my possible proof that it will is on the order tag it had "Dragster T-452"
Could this be the station track for the service area? Stainless steel so it never needs maintenance and light weight because no large forces will be involved?

Now as to why each section would be so short, I have no answer.

JT: You're wrong. Every Intamin coaster has a name plate in the trains with T-whatever, and none of them have anything to do with height.

thanks jeff sorry i didn't know
The loading station is my guess to the cages. I think that also could be the launch cage for the pullie for the launch.

Am I missing something here because I count 8 connectors on that "odd-shaped" support. 1) to the left, 2)to the right, 3)straight up, 4)straight down, 5)diagonally straight (away from the camera), 6)diagonally up left, 7)diagonally up right, 8)straight at the camera.

Also, unless there are going to be anti rollbacks on the top hat (which I don't see) how could a train stop at the top of it? I ask that because it seems odd to have stairs at the very top of the top hat for the purpose of letting guests out if the train gets stuck. Maintenance stairs are rairly that "friendly", right?

LuvJC - There are only 6 connecting points on this weird looking piece. ( http://www.virtualmidway.com/popup/mysterypopup6001.asp?image=attraction402.jpg&title=Mystery%20Attraction ) If you look carefully you can see that the horizontal pipe is just capped with a flat round piece similarly to the right end of the piece that is just to the left and back a little from the weird one. There are no flanges on those ends. This piece is the very top piece in the tower frame and is sitting in the lot upside down from how it will eventually sit on the tower.

At some point the left and right tower columns will be mitered like the back one and the three diagonal pieces will come together at this piece at the very top. That accounts for the three slanted stubs at the "top" of this piece as it sits in the lot.

One connecting stub will be for the track, probably the one coming out at the camera. The walkway assembly will probably be attached to the stub that sits on the pavement. The stub that is sticking straight up is probably for a vertical bracing member that will go down to the last horizontal brace between the columns at the point where they are mitered.

I wondered about this piece, too, until they placed the "bent" piece on the back column. Then it made a little more sense.

ed: (I gotta figure out how to do the links better. I think it works now. Sorry.)

I think they're for the maintenance lift system.
Okay, I see now. I was looking at this pic http://www.virtualmidway.com/popup/mysterypopup6001.asp?image=attraction403.jpg&title=Mystery%20Attraction and thought I might have seen a flange on the right side. But I think that is the piece behind it.

But those stairs still bug me. No anti-rollbacks on the curved track in the parking lot means nowhere for the train to stop gravity from pulling it back to earth means no guest or employee will be getting off the train and standing on the stairs. My only thought is that they are thinking easier access for maintenance workers at 400+ feet. But they don't usually install stairs and hand rails for mechanics.

One Question will they let me in the back of the soak city parking lot. do they let any of you guys how take pic. Can someone anwser this?
just go out the Magnum entrance of the park and you can walk to the parking lot. they won't stop you.
