Merchandise/Games

I just recently got hired in the merchandise/games department :) Anybody else in this department?? What exactly do people in this department have to do?

Pagoda gift shop is the largest store in the whole park! There are many people working with you at one time so at least your not alone. With it being the largest gift shop, it's also the busiest. I haven't worked there personally but I did work in Merch my first summer. IT HAS AIR CONDITIONING! haha

I don't want to burst anybody's bubble, but yes Pagoda is air conditioned, the only thing is, the doors are kept open all day. There's four sets of doors, the two sets of front doors, and a set back by the candy area, and another one back with all the fleece clothing. They've done some work in the store for this season, but with it being 90 degrees in summer, alot of heat gets in with all the doors open. I'm not saying it's boiling hot inside, but just not quite as cool, if the doors were closed. I was one of the TL's there back in '07, and when it's busy with guests, you really don't notice the air conditioning. Don't get me wrong, its a fun store to work in, and since it is the largest, there's always something to do, so time passes fast. Have a great summer!!

Believe me that ac is plenty strong for those of us that walk around all day in 20 pounds of gear with a vest on. But the back side of the store doesn't get much of it, if you want to stay real comfortable try getting in snoopy boutique.

Merchandise/Games is a great department to work in.

I learned salesmanship, customer service, taking inventory, theft prevention and training others. I worked in nearly every store and sold everything from inexpensive jewerly to high-priced art.

My best advise: learn as much as you can, complete your contract and enjoy your down time so you will be 100% when it gets really busy.
