Merchandise Training

I was wondering when and what the merchandise training is. I'm processing on April 28. I'm work at dragster photo and wanted to know what kind of training do ride photo's get? Thanks

I would assume it's mostly just register training... I really don't know what else they could have you do!

i will be working the Magnum photo...

I think if you work at photo they'll train you at how to use the photo editing software, as well. And what to do if anyone happens to do something obscene or vulgar on the camera (which tends to happen fairly often). And they'll tell you that RipCord employees get free photos at every ride that offers photos ;-)

For ride photo you'll actually get to go through two training sessions. The first one is regular merchandise training where they teach you how to use the old Samsung cash registers and the credit card terminals. You'll also learn how to do Daily Sales Reports (DSR's), count change, and boring stuff like that.

If you process in prior to opening day, your second training session will involve actually walking out into the park and visiting a ride photo location where they will teach you how to use the system. Everyone seems to think that there is someone sitting in the back room editing all of the photos and stuff, but there really isn't. The old ISI systems (every ride except Maverick) are simple to work. You basically type in the photo number displayed on the screen, select the item you want to sell, enter the payment, and it'll spit out a receipt and print the photo(s). If you get really good you can do 3 sales per minute.

Maverick's system is a newer Kodak system which was not around back when I worked in photo. It shouldn't be hard to use though.

If you start after opening day, they'll just make you sit through the regular merchandise training and then your Team Leader or a Supervisor will teach you how to use the ride photo computers during your first day of work.

If I'm not mistaking... didn't all the systems get upgraded to Kodak? ISI has since gone out of business so I thought the only RidePix system left was at Mean Streak. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe no one knows what I'm talking about... :)

Trust me, no one is more unhappy about the Kodak deal than me. I was supposed to the the ISI park support intern for 2007 until they lost the contract and went out of business.

As far as I know the only ride that has the full Kodak system is Maverick. Raptor and Woodstock Express are now CDRide locations, so I don't know what they have. The other rides upgraded to Kodak photo printers last year, but they still had the same old ISI RidePix software and computers that they had back in 2005.

Thanks RidePhoto101, GL's systems were all ISI. We also upgraded to Kodak printers for the 2007 season. It's too bad about ISI, Cedar Fair dumping them for Kodak for both Front Gate and Ride Photo is what did them in. As ride photo supervisor at GL, I did all the support for the systems. I spent countless nights at the camera pole 'til 2am. (Darn that Villain flash, fire already!) Anyway it's nice talking to someone who knows about Ride Photo.
