Media Day 5-1-03

Well I'll try to post the main events of media day but I know I'll forget some things. First off all the themeing of the ride is not finished yet, so when you get there opening day don't start complaining about how it's not all done. Because it won't be (or so I think).

Things that are not done are the lights on the tower that count down. The light post that counts you down when your waiting to launch is not installed either. (I know I can't think of the name for that...I need more coffee). All the shades in the ques are not installed but there will be more as they are just waiting to be installed.

The ride itself looks great...NO AWESOME. From the station, to the trains, to the tophat, this ride puts the exclamation point back at Cedar Point. The midway from power tower to magnum is totally different, people who got pictures last year, and compare those to this year will be amazed.

Bryan (my friend) and I got there at about 6ish met up with Jeff, Dan, JS, Bryan, Jo, Dani, and many others and waited and waited for the weather to clear, enough about that our first ride was around 9:30

WOW what a launch, you won't be prepared for it. Short and sweet. The shortness really doesn't matter the ride is just that good. And it's just as smooth as any Intamin. I didn't remember most of my first ride. If you get a chance to look around on the tophat the view is BREATHTAKING. You see MF's Lift hill WAY below you, the food stands look like matchbox cars, no maybe toothpicks. Yes you get airtime on this tophat also, even being stapled in. The real headchopper seems to be in the left seat moreso then the right. But both are fine.

So our 4HR 45min wait well BOB wouldn't stop talking in line right in front of us. Think of 4HRs of non-stop talk from this ride to politics to the french to you name it BOB talked about it. I think Dani said it best when she stated loudly, "Is anyone else talking in this line," (she looked around then said) "NOPE, JUST BOB!!!" We and alot of people behind us were rolling after that.

Also probably alot of people will complain opening day about the ride breaking down, there were glitches and 10-15 minute breakdowns but I think mostly the delays were the media. I would guess as far as operation this ride will work as MF did, frequent breakdowns in the start and then when they get the bugs ironed out it will be pretty good. The only thing I have a hard time believing is launches every 30 seconds, they were launching every 1-2 minutes (which was rare) to every 10-20 minutes. But don't start ripping CP they started testing only a couple weeks ago.

I think we can push MF over and say hello to TTD, the running of the bulls will now be for TTD, but this way I can just walk to Raptor and ride. A super ride, that I hope is not topped for a long time (unless by CP).

Hooper, I think I was right behind you guys. Me and my friend Stacey were in the home made t-shirts. As if the 4 hour wait wasn't long enough... That guy drove me NUTS. The best part of that line was when he left for like 20 minutes... mmm silence
