You should be able to though. After the work they did to voyage in the last off-season, I was able to ride it in any seat with my back up against the seat. It make for a much more enjoyable ride when you don't have to work so hard at not getting hurt. :-)

Yeah, if detailed, esoteric instructions are required in order to ride something pain-free, the ride sucks.

^I personally like the ride, but I have to agree with you that it is ridiculous to have to try certain methods to get a pain free ride.
I rode in the back seat a couple of weeks ago, it was not a very pleasurable experience. Something that I noticed about Kings Island is that their wooden roller coasters have much more cushy padding on the seats. The Racer and Beast were very bumpy, but the padding helped make the ride more comfortable.
