Mean Streak Ridership

I have calculated (not to sound like a math whiz) what Mean Streak's Ridership would be if it keeps falling like it is:

(Up to 1996)
1996 1269618
1997 1262351
1998 1314090
1999 1150784
2000 1137143
2001 1085154
2002 1054392
2003 993422
2004 946947
2005 888188
2006 800000
2007 750000
2008 700000
2009 650000
2010 600000
2011 550000
2012 500000
2013 450000
2014 400000
2015 350000
2016 300000
2017 250000
2018 200000
2019 150000
2020 100000
2021 50000
2022 0

By this time, I dont think the ride will even be around. All of this maybe just an educated guess.

Well, I think it might be more appropriate to use exponential decay toward a horizontal asymptote. I say this because I would think as ridership dips low enough, the benefit of non-existent lines will tend to keep it afloat, so to speak.

Thats one of the reasons I like MS,no long line.

I was thinking the same thing dj. I just wouldn't have sounded as cool if I said it ;)

And if you take a look at the other coasters and rides at CP. There ridership is also been lower in the past couple of years.

Ah, but who would, Mark?

The answer, of course, is no one. ;)

I would expect it to rise after Maverick is there. More people in that part of the park = greater ridership.

Let me ask this here...we are headed to CP for a couple days tomorrow, and this year I have had really good rides and just so so rides on Mean Streak. Is there a better time of day to ride Mean Streak? I know woodies can be temperamental. So far, we got our best rides in the AM in the third to last car in the back...and then a horrible ride in the afternoon in the last car in the back mid-season.

Any suggestions?

Yeah, ride Magnum instead.

Yesterday I went to CP and rode MS and it was not as bumpy as normal. I think if it is the same for everybody the ride will stay.

Is this a joke?

Of course the ride is going to have less riders as they build bigger better rides. Along with drops in attendance and more days of two train operation, older rides will always see drops in attendance.

If this was such an educated guess, can you give me an educated answer to why no one will ride the ride in 2022?

Well, Gomez, there's one hole in your argument. Magnum. Its 2 years older, and over the same period has experienced no declining trend in ridership.

Of course, this could be eliminated as a possibility by you saying "better rides" as that has yet to happen at the Point, no matter how many times Intamin has tried.

^You are right, but there's always going to be exceptions. Magnum, Raptor, and MF all are rides that stick out the most. I don't see their popularity going anywhere. (TTD could be included in that too)

When comparing other rides (ie: Corkscrew, Demon Drop, and White Water Landing), you can clearly see what happens as rides get older.

Why did they add trim breaks to the hill for and do you think they'll take them off?

To keep the ride from tearing itself to shreds. And no, they won't be coming off until they put some serious time and money into restructuring (more steel where the higher stress points are) and retracking the ride; which will most likely be never.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

I couldn't find the Mean Streak 2012 thread so I decided to bring this back. I just wanted to let everyone know that I was with Mean Streak Henry and I am happy to report that he broke his 2011 record today with 2,156 rides and still going for the 2012 season. I can say I was there when he did it! :)

^ Good for Henry! I was talking to him when I was there the other day and he said he had about 20 rides to go before breaking it.

I was lucky enough to ride Mean Streak Tuesday night without the trims on the first hill. I have to say that it made it a little bumper than with the trims on, but it was SO much FASTER. I loved it.

This was the last thread in which Mr. Scott and I had a fun back and forth. Just sayin', since it was resurrected.

:)

Godspeed, Mr. Scott...you're missed.

Aye, Mr. Scott. Hope you're still manning the transporters in the great Enterprise in the sky. :(

I've never heard of Mr. Scott as a newcomer to this forum, what was he known for before his death? I looked him up, he was the unofficial "Mayor of Lighthouse Point" and liked Star Trek. Why was he famous on this forum? Was he notable before is death or just after?

As for Mean Streak, it is also near the back of the park and Maverick sucks people away from it. If we could get some recent ridership figures, we could figure out if Maverick had an effect on its ridership dropping.

Anyone know what Mean Streak's ridership was approx. last year? I'm curious after looking at the figures in the first post.
