Headed down with my two cousins for a hopefully relatively slow day at Cedar Point. Entered the park at 9:50 AM with prepaid tickets and parking bought online. Got to see the opening for the first time. I was surprised there wasn't a national anthem or any sort of announcement. Kings Island had a recording of the national anthem at the opening time when we visited a few years ago.
I'll just highlight rides and attractions of interest.
Millennium X2 - Waited about 45 minutes around noon and about 30 minutes later in the evening. The second row from the back is my favorite row - very forceful. Millennium seems to be a bit more "rattly" this year, similar to how Bizarro at SFNE was last summer.
Maverick X3 - Rode it first in the morning and twice at closing. Walk-on all three times. Rode in the front row for the first time too. Wow! The water bombs were working, although one was malfunctioning a bit.
Mean Streak X2 - Rode both times in the back row. First time on the gold train was literally the most painful ride I've ever been on. Luckily the Mean Streak Defensive Submission Position(head and back completely off the seat back, arms at sides to absorb lateral movement, holding on to the hand bar the entire time) minimized trauma and a cold glass of water and some air conditioning at the Palace Theatre afterwards got us back on our feet. The track on the second and third banked hills looked like it had been redone and was actually pretty smooth compared to last year. But the trim brakes were still grabbing hard and the rest of the ride was a shuffling, slow mess. An almost empty red train at the end of the day did not result in a trimless ride as I had hoped. TAER IT DOWN!!!11!!
The Disaster Ride (DT) X1 - Five minute wait from the bottom of the stairs. The AC was off, but the remaining theming in the repair bay seemed intact. The poor attendant in there must be insanely bored. Anyway, the chaser lights on the lift were thankfully only blinking slowly this year, and the ride was still pitch black/dimly lit. No secret footers, B&M engineers, or theming sighted, only junk! We're all hoping this was our last ride on this thing! TAER IT DOWN!!!1!
Mantis X1 - Walk-on in the second row. The ride attendant's spiel about warnings of potential pain during the ride heightened our fears about what this ride does you. I've finally pinpointed which elements on this ride bother me. The first drop, loop, and dive loop are excellent and smooth. The elevated turnaround above the station, the inclined loop, and the turn into the mid-course are where the headbanging gets nasty. The rest of the ride is slow enough to be tolerable. Overall, I like it.
Iron Dragon X1 - Short wait in the morning. The back row was surprisingly good on the initial drop. The rest of the ride.... was its usual self. Two trains were running with the third on the transfer track.
Blue Streak X1 - Walk-on. Second row of the first car. Excellent airtime throughout and good forces on the turnaround. It was also running as smoothly as last year.
Petting Farm X 1 - After buying a bottle of water so the cashier would be allowed to break my dollar for quarters, we proceeded to buy some feed at a nearby vending machine. Those stupid chickens wouldn't eat it! Well, at least we were able to pet the goats.
Corkscrew X 1 - A surprisingly long 10 minute wait for the front row was worth it. The loop always provides some surprising positive Gs. The two corkscrews have much more of a "spinning out of control" feel in the front. Excellent.
Magnum X1 - Wait was to the Fast Lane merge point.
Raptor X1 - Wait for the front seat is almost always only an extra train.
CCMR X1 - The half-empty train seemed to lose an alarming amount of momentum at the block brake before the final helix.
Monster X1 - First time riding this. Fun, and not intense at all.
Witches Wheel X1 - First time on this too. I love how the positive g-forces are constant enough to make you feel heavier than you are normally.
Space Spiral X1- The recording during the ride is speaking very quickly this year. Better ride this in case it's removed.
Gemini X1 - Only one side was running all day.
Lunch - Panda Express. Some fairly healthy choices and the larger portion sizes led to us doing this instead of Chick-fil-A.
Dinner - Midway Market. This is the only place where you can cheaply satisfy your appetite after a long day. Although everybody on this board seems to hate buffets, it's still better than the dining halls at college.
Other notes:
-Luminosity had construction going on throughout the day. In the evening some LED lights were even on. Looks good.
-WildCat pieces were spotted in the parking lot next to Millennium. We were considering stealing one, but figured they were too big to fit in the car.
-Fast Lane only had lines on the biggest of rides.
-Dragster was down throughout the day.
Overall, it was a fun, but tiring day at the Point.
Holiday World next month!
Good Report!
FYI The national anthem is played at 9:00 a.m. when the park opens for Early Entry....
2015 Cedar Point Visits = 93
That was a great report! Way better than the one I did for the 22nd of May.
Thanks for the time you put into this. Sorry Top Thrill Dragster was down. We rode it twice on Tuesday. One wait for 30 mins and another one only 10 minutes.
Maverick was down most of the day on Tuesday but we did get one ride in.
Glad you had a great day!
