It was great to finally get back to Cedar Point after a year and a half since my last visit back in 2004! Because of work and other situations I wasn't able to make it last summer. I was determined to get to CP this summer, so I took a day off work and made the hour and a half trip from the Toledo area leaving at 8am with three of my friends. With one of us sleeping on the way there, and the rest of us playing 20 questions and listening to Bob and Tom the ride seemed to go faster than normal.
We got to the park around 9:30-ish and stretched our bodies out after being stuck in the car for that long. When we headed into the park we decided to walk toward Raptor to see how long the line was. It so happened it was a walk on at that point, so we got on Raptor with no wait. It seemed to be running really well to me at this point, it was flying in the first half of the course. After a strong mid course brake it picked up a good amount of speed to finish with a good amount of speed. This was a great way to start off a day, Raptor with no wait. We debated riding again, but decide to move on.
Not being able to go to the park last year I had never been on MaxAir, so we headed over there for my first ride on this wonderful new addition to the park. MaxAir was also a walk on. This ride is better than I thought it was going to be, with speed and the spinning of the ride, it combines the two to create a unique ride. With no lines we have already gotten on two great rides in 5 mins. At this point we were going to head to WT, but it wasn't open, nor was DT(because of the 11am opening for some of the rides?). At this point we headed toward TTD to check how long the wait was. 30 min wait was short enough to entice us to join the line. And after about 35 mins we got on the ride and had a great ride on TTD. I wanted to ride in the front seat, but at this point we didn't feel like waiting another 30 mins to get in the front.
After TTD we headed over to Magnum which was a walk on. Magnum, just like Raptor seemed to be flying, and they had to brake the trains pretty heavy after the third hill. We hit Magnum up twice for two great walk on rides. After this we didn't really know where we were going, but we headed toward Gemini and had one of our longest waits to the day other than TTD. For some reason they only had the red side running all day, even when the line was about 15-20mins. I wasn't really complaining, because in the hour and a half we had been there we had already been on 5 rides. Gemini seemed to be running pretty slow, but was good to be back on this ride.
After Gemini we were going to head to Mean Streak, but it wasn't open(didn't open till about 12). We hit up Mine Ride for a return to our younger years when this was our favorite ride. I kind of forgot how rough this ride was, and at this point some of my friends started to say they were getting headaches. But after Mine Ride we headed out to Sky Hawk, it was right there and none of us had been on it before. It is a great ride, but I liked MaxAir more. Sky Hawk was just too short, and although fun isn't worth a very long wait in my mind. Right after Sky Hawk we rode the swings. After the crazy morning of going from one ride to another some of my friends started to say their stomachs were starting too get upset. So we got a pop and sat down for about 15 mins and just took it easy for a bit.
After out break we walked to MF and Mantis. MF was still down, I warned my friends before we got there that it would be. So we hit up Mantis for a ride. I don't know why, but I think that is one of my least favorite rides in the park. It is almost work to ride it. You have to stand up while pulling all those G's, plus you have to make sure to keep your head from hitting the head rests. After Mantis it was about noon, so we started to head back to the parking lot for lunch. On our way we took some quick rides with very short lines on Iron Dragon and Wild Cat. Then we took the Sky Ride back to the front of the park and ate our bagged lunches in the car.
After the almost two hour lunch(we also provided lunch for some of the seagulls as they provided some entertainment for us) and a relaxing break we headed back into the park. We walked to WT because we saw that was open while sitting in the parking lot. But first we heading into DT to get out of the sun. After DT we rode WT with a very short wait on both of those rides. After WT we went by TTD to see how long the wait was, and again it was only 30mins(as it was most of the day). This time we waited for the front, which made the wait an hour long. It is a total different ride in the front, and I would suggest for everyone to try it once. I have ridden TTD 6 or 7 times before this, but front row is a different ride.
After TTD we walked over to the train and took a ride to the back of the park were Mean Streak was running, so we took a ride on that, of course with a short line.(If you haven’t figured out, this was a great day to be a the park with very short lines.) After Mean Streak we walked all the way over to Magnum to ride it twice more, trying to take some weird pictures, but of course we won't spend $12 to buy them, that is just crazy in my mind. After Magnum we rode Power Tower(Down). It really got one of my friends on the drop, that was a good time, and we all had a good at him. After PT, we walked to the front of the park to see if Raptor was open for a few more ride on it, but we struck out on that one, it was closed. So we rode MaxAir again, DT again and WT once again. Our final ride of the day was Demon Drop(as this might be it's last year).
It was a great day at the park. Just the right temp, and when the sun started to get a little hot, clouds took over and cooled things down a bit. Our longest wait was TTD like normal, but other than that everything was only about 15 mins. This left us lost of time to relax and enjoy that park while still hitting the major rides. I think this would have been the prefect day in the park if MF was open, but when while out it, it was a blast and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
