(sorry for the long post)

We were supposed to have this trip last weekend, but the weather kept us at home. We chose to brave the Memorial Day crowds, and it turned out to be a pretty good decision, in regards to weather.

This trip, in some ways, was years in the making. It was the first time we took our kids to the Point. After years of taking them to Geauga Lake, I decided it was time to expose them to something greater. My expectations were low for the kids getting on bigger rides. My 10 year old son's coaster list was just the coasters from GL 2007, minus the Headspin. My 12 year old daughter rode Dipper, Double Loop, and the Beaver Land Mine ride (Her favorite). And the Domintaor and Villain terrified her upon sight. But she agreed that if I bought her a Platinum Pass, she would try bigger coasters. I just wasn't convinced.

We arrived at CP at 9am Sunday. Of course the first sight of CP and my son was excited. My daughter, not so much. I think she was in shock until we left the season pass center, which took about 10-15 minutes. We had decided months ago that Raptor would be first up. We didn't have much time to talk my daughter into it before we hit the station. Fortunately, we didn't need to. She hopped in her seat and we were off! Eyes clenched shut and white knuckled the whole ride, and she LOVED it! We all got laughs out of watching the video of her ride. Next, I figured Skyhawk would be a good ride after Raptor. Wrong! She sat out 2 rides while me, my girlfriend, and son went on, with no wait either times. Cedar Creek Mine Ride must have caught hr eye waiting for us, cause that's what she wanted to go on next. The kids went on this alone, as I'm to tall to fit comfortably. Waited outside entrance to see if I could pick them out on the ride, and there they go up the hill, front row. They were split on opinions of the ride, as my son was kind of bored. I then bring up Mean Streak. Convincing her that it's only 20 feet higher than Raptor and no loops, she was on board. Both kids loved it so much, after 3 walk-on rides, (2 for my girlfriend) my back could take no more. After passing on Gemini, which was a 1/2 hour wait and only running the blue side, next thing we seen was Magnum. My son was anxious to ride, and my daughter...was on board?!?! Suddenly, she loves coasters? This was one coaster I had zero expectations of her getting on. And after we bought the picture, she wanted right back on. After 2 laps on Maggie, PT Turbo shot, Dodgem, and Skyride to front of park, we went to car to eat lunch. We went back in and hit numerous flat rides and some more laps on Magnum. We ate dinner out of park, got our room at the Maples, and went back for our last 3 hours of the night. It ended with the kids on the bench in front of Power Tower, eating Dippin Dots, watching me and my girlfriend getting dropped 240 feet.

Sunday was just as fun, hitting prolly 20 rides by 3:00. Highlights include getting my son on MF, and him throwing his arms up at the top of the hill, and getting them both on Mantis twice. They ended their day getting soaked on Thunder Canyon, and we left.

A few things to touch on. I can't believe how short ride times were, as busy as the park looked, especially today. 1/2 hour for TTD, and basically walk-ons for Maggie, Mantis,WT, and Raptor. Also, I didn't see the people by Magnum selling time shares approach anyone. They stayed at their stands until someone approached them. At least from what I seen.

Oh, and I'll NEVER go on Skyscraper. Ever. Period.

I don't blame your daughter for not wanting to ride SkyHawk. lol. I wouldn't eathier! I love coasters, but not too much of a fan of thrill rides like that. It's good to hear that they like coasters though :) Me and my sis are going to CP on Wednesday, and she has only ridden Raptor and then a few small ones. So I hope she takes to the bigger coasters like your kids did. She is 20. So if she doesn't I am going to tell her about this TR and make fun of her that a 10 and 12 year old can do it, but she can't. lol. And are you being sarcastic about Skyscraper? I know that I will never ride it! Ever! lol. Like I said, I'll take a coaster any day over one of those kinds of thrill rides. Anyway, glad you had fun! :)

"You wanna, you gotta, you hafta hold on, Cedar Point...HOLD ON!"

its always fun to read about someones first experience at cedar point.

I rode SkyHawk for the first time a couple weeks ago, I was scared to get on it, but I had a lot of fun! I had to build myself up to riding more daring stuff like that, 2 years ago I wouldn't even ride Gemini, now it's one of my favorite coasters at CP.

SkyHawk is great first ride in the morning, really wakes you up and puts air into your lungs for sure (I scream loud). :)

Great TR!

I'm a little shocked to hear some of the opinions of Skyhawk.

Skyhawk is one of my favorite rides anywhere on the Point (coaster or flat)! For sheer smooth effortless fun, I just don't think it can be beat!

The more I ride Skyhawk the more I love it, it kinda grows on me for some reason. :)

^^I agree!! I can't believe I love Skyhawk and don't even think it's scary in the least!!

But yeah, Memorial Day weekend was a GREAT time to go to CP!!

As for those timeshare sellers (I think BlueGreen??) I know I shouldn't have, but last week I left a note on their kiosk as I was leaving CP basically saying their conduct was unprofessional, unacceptable to the guests of CP, scares my children (which I obviously don't have), and pretty much is one of the most despicable acts I've ever seen by a company's sales reps and give hustlers selling fake watches in Central Park a good name! (since they instantly leave you alone after a quick "no")

I know it wasn't my place to do that, but maybe they got message! :)
