May 21 - Maverick Ride Night

LMAO Josh. "This ride has taken my belongings and my pride. I will return Maverick.... oh I will return!" Or at least thats what Rob should have said after the beast robbed him.

Beeeeehhhhhhh!!!!!

Wow.. I had no idea for a weekday there would be this many people going on May 21!

I'm from Australia, and will be at the park that day also..

I'm on a round the world trip with my wife (we'll be in NYC that week) and I have a flight booked to Cleveland (and hirecar to Sandusky) for the sole purpose of visiting CP, which I've wanted to do my whole life, but being from Australia, it's always been impossible. I'm so looking forward to this day. However, I will be attending solo too (my wife is staying in NYC shopping (she hates coasters) so, would love to maybe catch up with some of you guys and have a few rides!

I'm staying at Hotel Breakers the night before, and hopefully will get to use the early access entry, but, I know there are definite "strategies" for what rides to visit when and in what order to avoid crowds, but .. I haven't really had a chance to look into all that yet. Maybe I could join a few of you for a few rides during the day. I only have that one day (I'm flying back to NYC that night at about 7:30) so, I really want to try and make the best of my day!

Hope to see some of you there.

Cheers

Andrew

On a May Wednesday, you won't have to worry about strategies too much. Start in the back, as the front of the park rides pack in the morning from all the people coming in the gates. Even then, there won't be much crowd on a Wednesday. I'd also try moving your flight back a little bit. With a 7:30 flight, you'll have to leave by about 5:30. You bump it to a 9pm flight and you'll give yourself a bit more time in the park.

Sorry.. I think I got that flight wrong! I get back into NYC at about 10:30pm (I know that.) So I think the flight is actually at about 9.. I recall now I promised myself I'd have to leave the park by 6:30 or 7 at the latest.. I need to leave myself some time, because I've never done this drive (obviously) before in my life. I will have driven down the night before, but in the dark!! I'm thinking of asking at Cleveland airpot if I can have a car with satellite nav! hehe. I have printouts of directions so I should be fine but yeah.. I don't have a huge amount of time to get lost that's for sure!

Cheers

I thought you had a driver, but you do have a rental car, so that helps a bit. And don't forget, in the US, arrive at least an hour before your flight to give yourself time to get through security.

TSA - making flight safer, one shampoo bottle at a time.

Thanks dude.

Yeah I have to battle NYC traffic (in a taxi) at peakhour the day before, because my flight leaves NYC (LGA) at about 7:30pm, so to be there by 6:30, I have to be in a taxi from Midtown Manhattan at about 5:30.. (v busy time of day.) Whew..it's gonna be a hectic 24 hour trip!!

Andrew

I am down and out, work has me on a 2-10 PM shift that night.

Who knows though, with the way things are running you might be having a Magnum ride night instead :)

Sunday the 18th Maverick was only ever down due to weather / not clearing lift hill.

I'm thinking about going on Wednesday. Last year, you young whippersnappers were running from the exit to the entrance so fast, you started to lap me! I can't tell you how humiliating that was. So this year, I'm wearing my . . . rocket propelled heelies! Woo hoo. ;)

Wow... I'd pay to see that Mike... Although I was one of the "whippersnappers" jogging last year... after 3 rides though, I wore out. Hopefully there will only be enough of us this year to fill the trains... then we can just stay on... It's quite the haul from the exit to the entrance...

Or hopefully they'll let us use the special access stairs and not go all the way around.

I should be there around 1pm tomorrow.

Hopefully the weather holds out for tomorrow, unlike
last year where they cut the Maverick rides short due to
an incoming storm. But as of right now, the weather is
looking good for tomorrow. I should be there at 9am.

Thats some epic ride time. 3 times in an hour.

I didn't try and coin that, but now that I did I will take royalties for that any time now.

That epic ride time is pretty friggin epic. 6 times in an hour.

I might just have to say I am a bit jealous of that.

Eh, looks like I'll have to weenie out. I forgot about this get-together with in-laws tonight. Oh well, it's probably gonna rain a good bit of the day anyway. But you guys have fun!

Wow. What a turnout for the first Point Perks ride night of 2008. Managed to get 4 rides during the hour, which I thought was pretty good considering the amount of people that showed up. Nice seeing everyone again. Weather cooperated nicely. It was a sunny (although a bit cool) afternoon. The rain held off until after leaving the park for the night.

A very enjoyable day indeed. One of the highlights being the last people to get on maXair before it went down for the rest of the day.:)

That indeed was a hard earned maXair ride we got! Especially after Schuyler and I were stuck in the restraints for 15 minutes :)

But I echo Mark and Adam... it was a great day. 28 total rides in 12 hours is never bad!

although the weather was a little cool, it was almost as good as it gets. yesterday had to be one of the best trips i ever had. i thought more people would have showed up for the ride night but i didn't shed any tears over it. if i have nothing going on next month, i might try the ride night just because of my trip yesterday.

Compared to last year's Maverick Ride Night, there were nearly double the people, but as Mark said, we still got four rides. Overall I had a great time despite my sunburn on my face, and sore legs this morning. :)
