May 18th Sunday

It rained at the point today and the rain policy was in full effect and all rides pretty much halted during the rain except Wicked Twister it seemed.

I got my first roll back on the Top Thrill Dragster, but more on this later.

The park was dead empty, and had a 10-15 minute wait for Maverick during ERT. Definitely not your typical late summer ERT when the resorts are packed. Skyhawk had no line literally and since no one was there to ride it...

We walk in and skip Skyhawk because no one is riding it and we don't want to make the ride ops push down 40 lap bars for 2 people. So we get in the 10 minute Maverick line to find...THE MAVERICK GOOSE? Seriously how did he get up there, he was quacking or whatever geese do quite a bit.

We hit up Skyhawk and walk right on. Than to Top Thrill Dragster as the line was opening and we have maybe a 20 minute wait for Dragster. Than I decide lets do Power Tower than hit up Raptor. We didn't ride Power Tower this time because the ride was oddly long....I have a new appreciation for Raptor though. It's just a really fun ride, and I've never given it enough credit. There was a 20 minute wait, and we rode front row. B&M's do have that different feel to it.

We notice on our way back up that the Wicked Twister line was pretty wicked and ignored it until later. So we head for Mantis but hit-up Power Tower now on the way as it was a walk on ride. which was a walk on with no line. Well there was no line until someone puked on the 3rd seat over on 2-1 which took some time to clean up. But we got front row within 20-25 minutes.

Millennium Force time, and we we're winning here with time I must say. 15-20 minutes again for Millennium Force. Just third row I think it was.

Than we decide its time to check out Panda Express for our first time. I got white rice (because their fried rice has eggs in it, and I've never had chow mein, and I wasn't going to try it out at CP), and mandarin chicken. Which was good, but there was no orange chicken that I've heard so much about. They we're out and it would have taken like 45 minutes or something for more. The chili sauce, or panda expresses "hot sauce". Is somewhat odd, and I don't know if its the best hot sauce you could have at a chinese restaurant. Somewhat different....but the food here is pretty good and for $11.27 you can get a plate full of food and a drink.

Now that we have made our way back up in to Frontier Town we went on Skyhawk once again. It started to rain now as soon as we sat down. So we got hit in the face with pellets as we rode. Than we got stuck in a little 30 minute or so down pour where taking cover was required. We kind of hopped along towards Magnum from Power Tower taking shelter as we went along.

Magnum was closed but we got first in line to re-ride it. Ride opens up finally and we get in that famous third row. It rained again and we got pelted with rain while on Magnum. It took once again 15 minutes max to get on the Magnum.

So we head down to Top Thrill Dragster and get our first roll back ever. It was pretty fun. I highly suggest you all try it. Kind of like the free falling feeling you get on Power Tower.

We hop on Power Tower after Top Thrill because I love that thrill ride. Than head over to Wicked Twister since the line was dead. Wait of 10 minutes or so for front row.Than we head to Raptor once again and I check lost and found for my wallet, but it still wasn't there.

We hit up Magnum again, Skyhawk, and had some dippin dots ($4 for small, $5 for regular, I thought it was more expensive last year). Than we ride Maverick again, and rain kept this ride down for a lot longer than the wait was.
The day is about 5 PM now and we're planning out the end of the night rides.

After we got off Maverick we went to Power Tower once again, then Raptor but wait for Raptor to open because the weather once again took it down. We run to the Raptor train as the ride opens because it is 6:30 now and to finish the night off with a LONG Top Thrill Dragster wait we had to hurry. So we run from Raptor to TTD and....
At the end of the day it seemed TTD was having tons of roll backs. Almost every train. They ended up running only the first 7 rows. We got in line about 6:50 PM and left line at 8:00 PM
The mechanics actually went out to release something on the return side of the track.

As you can tell thats a lot of riding we got in one day, the crowds were moderately busier than we planned and it might have been to the amount of youth groups and schools that seemed to have been there. About 4 or 5 PM it seems they all left and the park became even less busy. Some rides like I noted about had wait times that we're extremely below average, and at times above average. Like walk on Mantis, but 30 minute waits for Power Tower and Wicked Twister? Weird....

Here are the prices for Subway if you guys are interested in seeing how much it will set you back. About $11.50 for a 6 inch and a drink.

The park had a mix of people who seemed to wish it was summer as the temps we're in the low-mid 50's, and people we're running around in t-shirts and short shorts, and than the park had the more sane crowd running around with jeans and jackets / sweaters on. Maybe 8 minutes out of every hour when I had direct sunlight, no breeze (kind of breezy day also) a t-shirt would have been better than wearing a sweater, but the day got pretty chilly towards the end.

Odd things I seen today...Sandusky had low 50's for temperatures, and Snake River Falls and Thunder Canyon we're both open. And I seen people actually ride SRF. Maxair had ride ops at the site, and mechanics. Everything was put together, the ride moved some, but never actually got swinging.

There was another marching band today. I forgot is this a tradition to have a marching band every day for a while?

The stunt bike show is definitely getting close to opening and from just one week ago we noticed a ton work being done to it. The ramps are near completion and we seen BMX freestyle bikers in the arena on top of ramps but just talking with people.

Has anyone else ever noticed how you have...Tofts, Dippin Dots, that frozen custard stand, the frozen smoothie stand, and Coasters with shakes / malts all within viewing distance of eachother. Aka I have what...5 or 6 choices for ice cream.

There are new Dippin Dots flavors, Birthday Cake which none of the places actually had. Caramal Fudge Brownie or something, and I think maybe one other.

I seen deer this time as we we're outside of Lansing once again! But I didn't hit any this time. Thats kind of a deer hot spot it seems.

Music was going in most queues today which is nice to give you something to listen to. Also I noticed garbage cans seemed to be placed in more places this year. In fact by the 3 point basketball and that area by Skyhawk / Maverick (that fried food stand there...) I don't think you could sit anywhere without being no more than 6 feet from a trash can (little too close for myself while I am eating food).

Top Thrill Dragster was running test trains right at 9 A.M this morning. It seemed they predicted problems or something because I never recall test runs that early.

To review
3x raptor rides
1x MF
3x TTD (not including the roll back)
2 Maverick rides
2 Magnum rides
Countless power tower / skyhawk rides.
1x Mantis
1x Wicked Twister

Maverick and TTD we're both acting a little funky, but TTD was acting funkier I think.

I met some pointbuzz readers who don't post, but at least read the site while in line at the very end of the night on TTD platform.

Anyone else have a hard time obeying the "no refills" rule on a $3.59 20 ounce soda at Panda Express?

"The park had a mix of people who seemed to wish it was summer as the temps we're in the low-mid 50's, and people we're running around in t-shirts and short shorts"

Were the people wearing the short shorts the type of people that should NEVER wear short shorts or were they easy on the eyes? ;)

Last edited by Dan Fielding,

They were all easy on the eyes. Trying to show off what they had worked for all winter.

Tons of guys running around in shorts and t-shirts though to be fair.

Honestly Sunday we got just epic amounts of ride time. I haven't had that much ride time at the point since...the Sunday before :)

I was there on Sunday. Did you happen to catch the "Single Rider" orange shirt guy who rode and Magnum like 100 times?

So stoked for 2010 :]

"Single Rider" guy comes in more colors than orange... you may also see him in neon green. He is just someone who really loves the park... He is there quite frequently, and I see him almost every Sunday that I am there.

Ripcord Crew 2002 / MF Crew 2004

I did not see you....

We only rode Magnum twice and we always run to third row on the platform and anxiously await for the train to come.

Yeah, but I wasn't single rider guy (hence the name in my signature!) But every time I passed by Magnum, he always ran to the line from the exit.

So stoked for 2010 :]

There's a new single rider guy this year. Our good pal, Bob, who usually can be found in green, is still a frequent visitor. But one day last week, he told me he met another single rider guy getting in line wearing orange. Haven't gotten to talk to the new single rider guy yet, but if he's anywhere near as fun and nice as Bob, I can't wait to meet him.

monday was a lot more crowded than i thought it was going to be too. Your so right about TTD. We got in line and it kept rolling back. Then they decided to not fill the last 2 rows so we left the line to ride Maverick. We waited and hour or so for that beacuse 2 of the trains broke and they had to take them off. We went back to TTD later and then there was a 20 min wait...weird.

I don't post very often anymore, but it was very nice meeting some pointbuzzers in line. The wait for TTD at the end of the night was very well worth it.

I wish I would've met some Pointbuzz people. My sister mentioned it in the TTD line during the morning and a whole bunch of people turned around and were like "WHAT ABOUT POINTBUZZ!?" It was pretty funny.

So stoked for 2010 :]
