May 18 - 22nd, 2003

A group of us visited The Point from May 18 - 22nd. We did all the usual stuff. It had been a year since my last visit and I was missing my Millie something fierce. At the top of the lift hill on my first ride on my Baby, I raised my hands and shouted for anyone and everyone to hear, "I'M HOME!".

But Draggie. Now that is something else. Nothing will replace Millennium Force in my heart, but Dragster now runs a close second. Our first shot was Monday. We were VERY lucky, as the wait was only 2 and a half hours. I only remember scattered fragments of that first ride. What I remember the most was the nearly unbearable tension I felt while waiting for that launch. Two of my friends were reciting the Lord's Prayer before boarding the train. I was somewhat afraid to even ride the thing, but I knew I HAD to because I could never endure the mocking of the eight year old kid who was with us . . .

Our second shot was Wednesday. We were lucky enough to get into the line as soon as it became apparent that the wind had died down and the ride was opening. We waited only an hour. THAT time I remember clearly. It is one awesome ride. I don't use the word "awesome" much: it has lost it's meaning through overuse. But AWESOME is the only word that even comes close to describing this amazing ride.

Our third shot was Wednesday night. We got in line last thing at 8 pm. We launched at 9:15. We were the second to last ride of the night. I HIGHLY recommend trying to ride Dragster after dark. The experience is even more amazing.

It's also hard to express the feeling of looking DOWN onto Millennium Force.

As usual, the whole trip was fantastic. I really must add that the entire staff of Cedar Point makes the whole experience even better. They truly redefine the meaning of Customer Service, and set a standard that seems so lost these days. No other Amusement Park Company <coughsixflagscough> can even approach the levels of making Guests feel welcome like the folks at Cedar Point. From the Rockin' Ride ops to the Polite & Courteous Park Ops Staff to the Hard Working Housekeeping Staff at Breakers to the Fantastic Food Service folks. They, too, are awesome.

They call another place "The Happiest Place On Earth".

But I know where the REAL Happiest Place On Earth is.

Yes I do.

PS - I conquered Raptor. Twice. Nary a dizzy moment, much less a loss of lunch. Raptor is now MY bee-otch, instead of the converse. I guess I'll have to change my handle here on the Guide . . .

LOL
