maXair alternative location

I am not complaining about the location of Maxair, but I will have to wait until May to make a full personal judgement of it's location. However, I was thinking about it and thaught of one alternative location that it would have possibly been better in. I think it would have blended beautifully between Raptor's station and Blue Streak next to the Game Day Grill on the site of what would have been the demolished Pirate Ride building. It would have generated a nice amount of traffic flow in that area for B.S. and Calypso. That little midway extension could use a little revitalization. Anyone agree?

They use the old pirate ride for storage and park services, though. They'd have to find an alternate location for the both.

I don't know if you've seen the PKI ride, but as huge as this thing appears when it's in motion, the footprint is surprisingly small. You could probably wedge this thing into a number of places, including the big concrete wasteland the Gameday Grill and Blue Streak.

Even though the footprint is small, you have to take the swing into consideration. That's about 80 in either direction.

Yeah, from the center... the swing extends only 25 feet beyond the base of the supports.

I don't know. I kinda likeit where it is. It will attract even more guests to the Oceanic midway. Im not saying it's a bad idea but I think if you put it in between Raptor and Blue Streak, it would almost seemed kinda cramped. But thats just my opinion.:)

Personally, I think that maXair would look awesome on the beach, like WT. Make it were it swings over the water, man that would be cool.

I thought they should have put it where Chaos is and had it swing over Wicked Twister's station/launch area, which is covered so loose articles falling wouldn't be an issue. You have to admit it would have looked sweet swinging in between WT's two spikes. Another excellent spot would have been in the middle of Mean Streak. The old abandoned queue in that area could have been used for maXair.
maXair in operation viewed from the Space Spiral should be pretty interesting don't you think? *** Edited 12/5/2004 6:38:02 PM UTC by macho nachos*** *** Edited 12/5/2004 6:38:43 PM UTC by macho nachos***

I don't know about in between Meanstreak. They use that for storage.

The Mean Streak area would never work. The ride would portray a wrecking ball to many people, if you know what I mean.

It could of been themed to fit in Frontier Town around Mean Streak. After all there's in never anyone back there.

I think they could have filled in the old water hole where Swan boats used to be (boats are at Michigans Adventure now) and put it there. Or, they could have torn down Peanuts playground or White Water Landing and put it there (how many years have we heard the rumor those areas were going to be torn down anyway??).

From the conceptual art it looks like it's about to take down Disaster Transport. What's the difference?

It might work between Raptor and Blue Streak, but I'm not sure. I have to be at the park and see the ride, then go look at how much room is by Blue Streak. I agree that a place in frontier town would draw in more crowds and it wouldn't really break down the theming.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

Maybe you guys are right about the swing. It might have worked if it was angled a certain way. When they decided to put this in the park, they probably looked at many possible locations including this one. I'm sure down the road a ride that already exists in the park will probably end up there due to a relocation for a new coaster or something. I guess I just want to see something new in replacement of the old Pirate Ride building.

Cedar Point has a lot more to think about than you or I when it comes to planning ride location; consider the fact that they know what's coming in '07, and most likely every change they make is made with '07, or the next major addition, in mind.

MaXair will be a very smart addition, and it is in an ideal location.

Ok I would have placed it in the spot of the scrambler and moved the scrambler between the Raptor and Blue Streak. I was saving Kiddie Kingdon for the Floorless.

But you would have to tear something down. CP wanted to put in this ride but avoid taking something down.
