The "strobes" in the tunnel everyone is talking about is the flash from the camera. The effect lighting was a few rows of colored lights between the camera and the end of the tunnel.
Yes and the few rows of colored lights flashed when you went by making it a "strobe effect". Thats what we were talking about.
Let's Get Weird.
I think something might up in the tunnel at that end because they aren't using the camera in there anymore as well as the lights (or at least they weren't using it when I went last).

What "bass" sound are you referring to Chris?
I know it doesn't make the clanking noise (train crossing noise??) as you slow down in the tunnel, and it also doesn't making the loud "whooshing" noise you were able to hear while waiting in line for it too
O yeah, they don't have that Western music playing in the line anymore like it used to!
Alright here is the old break down. As you slowed down in the tunnel, railroad crossing sounds could be heard and there were dim flashing lights with railroad signs by them. Then a rumbling sound (I always thought it was supposed to be a stampede) blared and you took off. After your picture is taken 4 bright blue lights (2 on each side) flashed and got brighter. It blinded you until you left the tunnel and then there was a wooshing sound after exiting.
Thats the break down without the mist. The mist was on in the tunnel on the rides media day and opening day. After that it has been gone. I didn't see it with the mist. I can only imagine how fun the tunnel would be if the mist in Shoot the Rapids' tunnel was copied and put in Maverick's.
Let's Get Weird.
I never realized how much themeing Maverick's tunnel had until I rode it this year with it all removed! The effects actually added somewhat to the ride in my opinion.
When I rode it last week, it looked like all of the lights have been removed from the tunnel, leaving only the metal casing.
I understand that Cedar Point is about the rides and not the themeing, but I wish they would at least be a bit more invested in maintaining the little bit of themeing their attractions DO have.
And weren't there initially 4 water bombs instead of 3?

Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Yes there is Top Thrill 182, but as mentioned before, algae is a major problem for the water bombs in the pond. It's gets all worked up in the mechanisms and renders them useless. That is the reason why we do not see them as often. Simple as that.

Just be thankful 3 out of 4 are working, in a couple of years none of them will be. If CP's lack of keeping up with what little theming they have holds true.

Again, the waterbombs and tunnel lights should not be considered part of the themeing. They should only be considered as special effects. The infield does however represent the overall "theme" of the ride.....like the trees and rock canyons and trains.

Special effects that pertain to the ride, IS part of the theming for the ride.Just like the engine reving on dragster is part of it's theming.

Please use the ^^^ system right. You put 4 so I went and looked 4 posts up and it didn't make sense. If its right above your post you put one ^. It just confuses people.
Let's Get Weird.
Or, write your post so you don't have to use ^^^^ at all.
While we're discussing themeing. One thing I noticed yesterday was the Speed Display on Dragster's Launch Building was in operation.

Yes, that's what I'm saying. Yes the revving sounds on Dragster IS part of it's theme because it's the sound a Top Fuel Dragster makes...thus it makes sense. If it was the sound of an explosion or scream instead then would it still make sense......no because it's not something you hear a Top Fuel Dragster make (unless there's an accident:)).
It's the same thing with Maverick. If you were to take a drive into the vast scapes of Arizona, Nevada or Utah are you going to find water bombs and led strobes in train tunnels? No of course not.....that is unless you put them there. So they're not something that's synonymous with the wild west thus they're are truly part of Mavericks "theme". The infield however fits the wild west theme perfectly now because it looks VERY similar to the type of landscape you would find in the west.

It was my understanding the water bombs were supposed to have the effect of being shot at. So isn't that part of the theming? Yes, I agree strobe lights in the tunnel have nothing to do with the wild west.
Also, I have been to NHRA events before and they don't have an "infield", NASCAR does. But TTD is better then Kingda Ka because of the theming in the "infield" in my opinion.
windixie06
The theming on kingda ka is much better than dragster, but dragster is a better ride. I am not sure why, but kingda ka is a ruff ride.
