That's funny because I am 6'3" and unless I forget to hold the shoulder area of the harness at key points of the ride, I never get a single bang...ever.
Smart riding, hands up for the drop, launch, and camelbacks. hold on for the stengels!

6' 2" and I've never had a problem riding Maverick...but since this thread is here, there were lights in the tunnel yesterday (but not all), and 2 water bombs were working.
I didn't hear anyone complaining about it in real life though.
Promoter of fog.
After I took a nice chop to the jaw on my first ride, I learned pretty quick my deffensive riding habits. I usually ride front row so I lean into the turns and rolls without even knowing it.

Rollbacks: 1st Triple Rollback of 2009!
Height has nothing to do with it because I am fairly short at 5'5 and I no longer experience pain on Maverick or any headbanging isssues with the harnesses.

Just keep writing Cedar Point directly guys...I'm very confident that we will get the soft straps on Maverick eventually. The more comments direct to Cedar Point, the faster they'll come...
I think they have always been off for the dark tunnel affect, I don't ever remember seeing them on, I thought they were only there for maintenance purposes.

Call me pessimistic, but I-305 got soft restraints because people were greying out and no one wanted to ride. So, unless people start greying out on Maverick and stop riding, I don't think they're coming anytime soon.

I don't think soft straps have anything to do with greying out. Thats with the design of the turn out of the first drop. The soft straps are for head banging.

Hmmmm last time I brought up the theming on Maverick somebody (can't remember who) told me to quit complaining. But I agree they need to bring everything back.
AIRTIMELUVR, the lights were like strobe lights right after they take your picture before you turn left out of the launch tunnel. They were for theming purposes, not maintenance.
And as for the water bombs, they need to be timed correctly again! they go off when the train is a good 3 feet past each bomb. I hope they get that issue figured out because that is another cool effect that guests off ride can see while watching or while simply walking over the bridge
^Strobe lighting is actually dangerous to have on rides because it can cause seizure. I agree though that the water bomb should be turned on again. If it is due to budget costs, I would have a machine like Shoot the rapids does. That way they could still have the effect, plus pay off the cost of it. Maybe angle the bomb differently so it looks like the train is going to hit the water.

So the water hits the water? ;)
I highly doubt budget cuts would affect something like the water bombs being "on" or "off".
The water bombs might be "off" due to algae build up in the parts. Don't forget that those bombs are in a natural water filled pond....not a chlorinated pond like STR. So I wouldn't be surprised if the times we notice one or 2 (or all) of them off are due to an algae clog in the others.

Budget cuts have nothing to do with theming that is already there. If they could afford to put it in they should be able to afford to keep it running. The "strobe lights" in Maverick's tunnel flashed a total of like 6 times. It didn't cause one single seizure since the ride opened. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't randomly after 3 years go "Hmmm those lights in the tunnel might cause seizures. We should turn them off". No that is not what happened. Its the fact that CP doesn't give a crap about the extras on rides. They don't understand that the extras are what make rides unique.
Let's Get Weird.
-Every time I was there in 2009, the lights were not running.
-I am not saying Cedar Point randomly turned off the strobes because of seizures. If the strobes burned out, Cedar Point is thinking,
-Why replace something that is going to cost something?
-People don't even really think that the strobes add anything to the ride. It is not like anyone is in the tunnel for more than 10 seconds.
- If there is a health risk, why worry about someone getting injured or dying on the ride?
-Now why run the strobe lights? There are a few colored lights in the tunnel and its not like anyone is in the tunnel for more +10 seconds. Didn't the riders used to stop in the tunnel and wait for a few seconds?

You never were supposed to fully stop. The closest you come is if you are the 2nd train in the pair to departure. It slows down to about 5mph and then blasts you.
If theming isnt a big deal because you are only in it ten seconds then why even have a tunnel at all. You "are only it it for 10 seconds" anyways so why even have one?
A lot of people thought the lights in the tunnel were cool and thought it was the best part.
Let's Get Weird.
We also thought the heartline roll was going to be the best part....but that didnt turn out well now did it? :)

Call me crazy, but I am kind of happy that the heartline-roll wasn't put in because when I saw the rendering, i thought have bruises along the side of my head.
