I'm not sure if this was there before, but does it look like they added a fountain in that pond under the two horseshoe rolls?
Also, anyone know if the firehose has been running lately?

Did they really? That's good because when I went last month, the horseshoe pond was pretty algae-y. It needed some circulation.

Yes, they did add a fountain in the pond under the horseshoe roll, and it looks very nice.
I haven't seen the "firehose" over the s curve on lately, but the water bombs have been working.
Another new surprise was added this past weekend in the queue house (old WWL station). A nice LCD screen was mounted and shows POV, off ride footage, and on-ride photos. It really looks nice!
The mist was off yesterday afternoon when I rode Maverick. That was kind of a bummer after hearing about how cool it's supposed to be. However, that fountain by the horseshoe roll is a nice little touch. I'm not sure how long that has been there.
After my first two rides last Tuesday, I have to say that Maverick is an awesome coaster that doesn't need the theming. However, what's there now only makes it even more awesome of a coaster experience!
Mist wasn't on today...busted my balls. Hopefully it will be on tomorrow. It will be my 5th day at CP this year and I still have yet to catch it on...
No mist today (7-19-07). I wish I could experience it, it really looks like it will add a lot. And the fire hose is still off. If they aren't going to use it, why not remove it?
And the fountain in the horse shoe roll is very nice and adds a lot (and detracts the amount of algae).

Thrills Around the Corner!
It's not really very likely that someone has a picture of the tunnel with fog, as it is hard to photograph off the ride, and picture taking on the ride is frowned upon...
I'm sure someone has a picture of the fountain, but it looks just like the ones in Mantis's line.

I saw a couple videos on youtube with the fountain, it's a small fountain, but it's nice. Anyone know when the last time the firehose was on?
Anyways, I'm going to the Point tommorow, and will tell you all if thr mist is on or not.
Fog, firehouse, and water geysers/bombs... All were off when I rode Saturday.

It is fun but the I wouldn't mind more visual stimulation. Some complained that a ride in the front doesn't make it the best ride, but it is still a great ride nevertheless. But the lot looks empty, its not broke, it doesn't need to be fixed, but is it possible to be improved? Quite possibly for me.
Life has it's ups and downs, might as well make it on a coaster!

You can't really tell while riding and I did notice when the water bombs are running sometime a train will go by and they won't go off. Only sometimes though. And on the webcams I saw them running Saturday. I think.
About the firehose, I think it' done because people were complaining about it whipping them in the face I'm sure.
Nope. From when I rode and what I've heard, the water bombs have been on, and there is no fire hose nor fog because of the complaints.
Oh, and they installed that TV in the queue that shows a pov and ride construction from start to finish.

I saw the TV in the queues on Tuesday for the first time. I think they should have got a larger TV and put it high up on the wall to the right of the stairs then everyone in the station could watch.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
Wait, so people were complaining about the fog in the tunnel? That's sad to hear. I was looking forward to riding it with the fog on.
To be honest, of the three special effect/theming aspects we've been discussing (fog, water bombs, fire hose) I would say that I like the water bombs the best. Maverick is fun with or without the fog. The fire hose looked stupid anyway. The water bombs are one of the coolest parks of Maverick's area. As long as they stay operational I'll be happy.
