I was just wondering if there was any news or thoughts on whether the addition of more canyons and things of that nature are going to be added around Maverick. Looking at the animation and the actual on ride video there is definately a major lack of theming, although what they do have is good.
Personally when I was on the ride I didn't really notice it too much but the beams over head of the track before the horseshoe roll, I think, would add that much more to the feeling of speed on the ride. What's your thoughts on CP adding this type of stuff (also getting up the fog in the tunnel) in the off season. Given the high esteem people on this site and the GP have given Maverick I fear CP may not really see any reason for adding anything.
Your last statement summed it up. It's good how it is, and everyone (OK, nearly everyone, that is) loves it. Why spend additional funds that could be allocated for other park improvements (i.e. remodeling the Magnum bathrooms, building additional attractions, tearing down the aquatic stadium, etc.) to add more theming to a ride that is already loved by many people?
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Animations are artists' renderings, not representations of the actual ride. There's a heartline roll in the animation too. I think CP should tear out the S curve and put the heartline in so it matches the animation EXACTLY. And there's a different kind of waterfall, too. And there's no theming in the tunnel on the animation. Get rid of all that stuff. And there's less brakes on the hill before the S curve.

Well, your wish for the mist in the tunnel has been granted. As of yesterday, it's on. It really adds to the effects in the tunnel. It will really feel nice on those hot summer days.
As for the other theming elements that weren't done, I'm with Jeff. The ride is great just as it is, and adding anything more really wouldn't add much to the ride experience.
I'd much rather seem them spend that money in other areas of the park that desperately need it.

You might want to crawl out from under your rock.

I love sarcasm.
Keeping on topic, as cool as the scenery is, the ride would be amazing without any of it. (Don't get any ideas CP). The other things are just bonus. I also think the area will look neater and more like the pictures once the trees have a couple of years to grow. That will fill in the space and make some areas of the ride less visible.
I agree with Top Thrill 182. You guys who want more theming- you are looking at the bad part of things when in reality, we may have a top 10 roller coaster. Something that is really awesome. Not all parks can say they have or had 5 roller coasters on the poll. (Raptor, Magnum, Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, and Maverick) Even if Raptor was (I believe) #11.
