Maverick Restraints

What I think a lot of people are concerned about is whether or not the restraints are forgivable with larger guests, or is it the same as the old style restraints?

Anybody else's thighs and laps get crushed while riding..I ride, I'm skinny, 5'11, and my lap was crushed last year and I'll be there friday riding hoping I'm able to walk ok afterwards haha. Still a good ride but should I expect that issue again?

Rode Maverick for the first time this year with the new restraints and I must say what a difference. Two thumbs up! Made the ride that much more enjoyable! Who ever decided to make this change hit a home run in my book!

Maverick was still awesome but this just made it that much better!!

Ride on!!

I am not a "huge" guy but I am tall and have broad shoulders and these restraints were very forgivable and comfortable. I don't see any issues with larger guests. I think it will make it a more pleasurable ride to be honest.

Ride On!

Love the new restraints! Maverick was just not very re-rideable for me with the old ones. The only thing I had to watch was taking my glasses off before raising them after the ride. The straps will peel my glasses right off...Even with a strap.

Can't wait to try them out Friday!!

Got to try them out today, and man what a difference! I can keep my hands free instead of holding on to the top part of the restraint.

Funny thing is, a lot of people don't notice. When I mentioned it to other people today most were surprised, and then thinking back realized I was right. But then again I guess most people don't visit the park as much as I do, or visit this site, or agonize over how many blades of grass are growing in the old Turnpike Cars/GTT area and what it means for 2016.

Finally got to try them today (3rd trip this year) after waiting over two hours in line. The sign out front said half an hour but it seemed like they were having operational issues and then it started to rain. We decided to wait it out since we were at the bottom of the stairs.

Needless to say the new restraints are a vast improvement over the old.

That has always been my issue with Maverick. It gets painful at the end of the ride waiting to pull into the station.

Reading a thread like this, I sometimes wonder if somewhere out there in the online universe is an insaneasylumbuzz.com or straitjacketbuzz.com in which 'restraints' are discussed from a slightly different perspective.

Of course, the enthusiasts would probably be just as rational over that way...

No, that would be silly. But I have seen similar discussion at escapeartistbuzz.com

I have been on Maverick once this year so far, because it seems to always be down. It seems that Shoot The Rapids is spreading its reliability over that way.

That's one of the reasons that we stuck it out. It was down on opening day while we were there and also both days on our last trip.

Did you guys vote for Maverick as best coaster for the 2015 season yet?

No, what does that accomplish?

Are you always grumpy? My man you need to lighten up a bit.

Sorry I don't get on board with something like this, but the question still stands. This is like the golden tickets, or the GMA thing. I realize this is a CP site, but I think your post is spam-ish, especially because it's a little opinion poll by a little corner of a little channel that will mean absolutely nothing at the end of the day. That, plus you inserted it into a thread about Maverick restraints, which adds to my viewing it as off-topic and a bit spammy.

That applies to basically everything discussed here, ever. :-)

I'm not sure why posting a link to a relevant poll should be singled out, especially when this thread is discussing a coaster that's in said poll.

Fortunately it's not Scottyf's responsibility to worry about what's spammy here.

I apologize. Especially considering all of your posts are always on topic, right?

The poll may seem pointless, but any positive recognition of Cedar Point internationally is a good thing for the park. I'm a Cedar Point fan and a Maverick fan. I don't think it's out of the question to assume others here would like to see Maverick (or to be fair, the best coaster that deserves the title) to win.
