Are there any thoughts on how Maverick will rank on the Golden Ticket list this year? Does it have a chance at Best New Ride of 2007? I know it's going to be lower at first until enough people get a chance to ride it, but Goliath at SFOG made it to #9 in its first year, and TTD was #11 in its first year. How high do you think it will go in the coming years?

I think well. Although I still stand by the fact that there was a lot of head and neck and ear discomfort during the ride, so it will be interesting to see how that pans out in the coming years.

It was running at CoasterMania which was held plenty early for people who mainly travel for events to have ridden it and still have time to vote for it. I think it has a good chance at best new ride, but I have no idea on it's standing among other steel coasters. For Best New Coaster of 2007, I would think it would be between:
Troy, Maverick, Griffon and Renegade
I voted for Maverick.

As much as I love Maverick and feel it should win, what I've seen of Griffon looks amazing. I really want to ride that coaster, the holds on the drops would be really neat.
Well but it doesn't look all that different from SheiKra, and that didn't rate all that highly.

Looks can be deceiving though. Mean Streak looks to me like a first class coaster, but.... well... its not.

^^ Its really not that bad in the Front. I enjoyed it in the front, for the most part, everything but the trims that is.
On Topic. I think it will be a close call for best new ride for '07. Having it open for Coastermania will greatly help its cause, but I don't see it toping the Top 5 at least this year, but I do believe we will see it make the to 15.

Griffon looks really cool, but it seems too dependent on the drops. I understand that it was meant to stress on the drops, but I think they need more to the ride if they want it to earn best new ride. Its a few drops, a couple of Immelmans, and a turn through a splash zone. That about sums up the whole ride IMO. I think Maverick and Mystery Mine are both top contenders for best new ride.

I haven't got the chance to ride Griffon. But what i can tell you is that Sheikra blew me away. The back row airtime is amazing. I have a feeling that Griffon will be even better. Then again, Maverick is a style of coaster that has never been built. I would like to see the title come to Cedar Point, but i think Griffon has a bid.
Top Coasters:
1. Maverick 2. Millennium Force 3. Top Thrill Dragster 4. Sheikra 5. Magnum

I think Maverick will rate between TTD and Raptor. IMO
CP will still (I mean ALWAYS!) be the best amusement park.
Cedar Point, Americas rip- rockin', high flyin', sky defyin', record breakin' roller coast
How can fire in your face be lame?
I'm not sure how Griffon compares to Oblivion, but Oblivion ROCKED! The whole paused drop into a tunnel - wicked sweet!
Mystery Mine was not necessarily one of the best coasters (the pacing was REALLY slow for a coaster) but it is almost definitely one of the best RIDES that I have been on.
