I noticed that the Cedar Point Maverick site refers to the POV as "Forward". The other coasters on CP's site just say POV. I do know that 'reverse' in many cases means a backward view of the train but, My main question is the Maverick station is set up to hold 2 trains, would it be possible for one of the trains to go backward and one forward? If so, would you dare ride it backward? I think if one train were to go backward, it would be the second, simply because it does not stop suddenly in the tunnel and it gradually launches.
I'm not actually saying that CP would ever do this, it's just a "what if" type question. I know a bunch of you hardcore CP people are probably wanting to jump down my throat, but would you ride Maverick backward? ..bottom line.
"Before you know it, that Maverick's got the drop on ya."
No. The launch would push you up against the restraints and it just would not be comfortable.

yeah. That would be pretty intense. You're right.

It would be quite fun, but not very practical, the forces would probably be much too high. They do reverse some rides at other parks though. I don't see why CP can't reverse Gemini or a ride like that for Halloweekends, kind of like what SFMM does with Collossus.

Even though I've not ridden Maverick yet, I'm guessing I would get pretty nauseous riding it backwards. I'm not really a fan of backwards coasters though. The only "reverse" coasters I like are the ones like Wicked Twister. The Vemoka boomerangs, not so much.
Are there any other places that ever reverse coasters besides SFMM? I've never even heard of something like this!
^ Kings Island reversed one of the trains on the Racers back in 1982.
It has operated that way since, and is still rather popular.

Can you see One-Eyed-Willie from the top of Magnum?
American Eagle at Six Flags Great America used to reverse one of their racers. I'm not sure they do it anymore, but they used to. It was actually pretty fun. But, I could only do that once a day. :)
Maverick would just be too intense and uncomfortable backwards. You'd be thrown around so much more. Every bit of it would be intensified. I know I move around quite a bit just following the quick turns right after the first hill.
I would never ride it if they made it that way...CP should consider reversing one on the Blue Streaks cars instead..now thats intense.jk jk lol

@CoasterHQ
All this reverse-configuration talk got me thinking...
How awesome would Demon Drop be if there was a tilting mechanism at the top of the tower such that when the car goes out to the drop position, it tips you face-first so that you're looking straight down the tower? Wooo that would be awesome.

Reversing one of Mavericks trains is quite possibly the worst idea I have ever heard! I cannot believe someone would actually think this should be considered. Are you serious?
buckeye,
I don't think it was a legitimate question... just a hypothetical situation. Take it easy, yeesh

Thanks, Dvo. I specifically said "What if" just so I wouldnt get blasted. I guess it's always going to happen here. lol.

I agree with StrataCoasters, CP should consider turning one of Gemini's trains (probably blue) backwards, if not permanently then just for one season?

Wow, and I get called rude.
I like the backwards train idea (see Ghostrider, which I would love to ride) but there aren't very many coasters it would work for. Gemini would seem like it would be fun, but that final helix is a pain going forward, I can't imagine backwards.
Maverick I think is the same way (even though I have yet to ride it) in that some of the transitions are just too sharp to work on a coaster going backwards.
