Change the name on it from "Bart" to "Gravy....with mashed potatoes, extra turkey, stuffing, a side order of fries, 2 cheese on a stick and a diet Pepsi"

And instead of Mule Train, it would be Gravy Train. ;)

^ LOL!

This ride definetly deserves a #13 in the Golden ticket awards

Well I guess negative posts about cp coasters are not allowed on this site. I say Maverick is an average head slapper coaster...but Walt won`t let it be seen.Afraid of the truth I guess!!!!

Sorry Walt it was my computer.(SMILE)

I've had some slapping, but have found the best way to beat the slapping is to hold the restraint with both hands at about head level. You don't need to give it the death grip. That gives sort of a shock absorbing effect. When I got my marathon on the ride, I quickly found that hands up, or even on the lap bar in front of you was not the way to go.

I feel like wearing one of those neck braces next time. Not for stability, but to pad my neck. :)

OK jason I understand about the hand thing...but the OTS set up really takes away from the ride. You can`t see to the side for perspective.

I see you realized the posting problem was your end, but I still think it's hilarious that anyone would believe that we delete posts because we are "afraid" of the "truth."

Ok to add to the OTSR being taken off I don't see that happening because with out those there, when you go through the hard banked turns after the first hill you'd get thrown around pretty bad.

Some people are real winers. I rode Maverick four times in the front, back, and middle of the train. I never left the ride with any pain and my fiance seemed to do just fine also. The ride has great air time, great directions changes, and if you hold onto the harness (something that does not take away from the ride) you can avoid banging your head. Cedar Point probably chose the over the head harnesses because of the four or so people (not all of exceptional size) that have fallen out of Intamin lapbar restraints. The fact that they are more accomodating is definately a bonus since many more potential customers can enjoy the ride. If the air time on the ride is destroyed by those harnesses, why was my butt out of the seat on the first hill and every single air time hill throughout the course?

Maverick is a great ride that I definately look forward to riding again in the future.

By the way, I really have to wonder how comfortable (and safe) lapbars in the open train design would be with all of the quick direction changes. Intamin lapbars have proven to be more prone to failure than pretty much any other restraint that I know of. If you are looking for evidence of that, just think of how many people have fallen out of Intamin lap bars compared to Arrow, B&M, Morgan, S&S, or any other manufacturer. Intamin lapbars are also less accomodating than most other restraints. For evidence of that, look at which rides get the most complaints for people now fitting.

...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!

Well Natas all that you`re saying may be true. All I`m saying is that in order to get the full perspective of the ride ,your brain needs an unobstructed panaramic veiw of your surroundings. You can`t get that with the OTS....... I`ve been rideing coasters since 1959, I guess I don`t have enough experiance.

You guys just dont know how to ride. I know how and when to move my head so it doesnt hit the restraint. I dont think my head has ever touched the OTSR except for the 1st time I rode.

Let's Get Weird.

^ How tall are you? It's more difficult for short people to avoid the OTSRs.

Also, El Toro has only lap bars and it has PLENTY of intense laterals. So, only having a lap bar on Maverick would be no big deal. It doesn't have to be the MF design - it can be their new design (as seen on El Toro). Or, just rip off the upper part of the current restraint. The rest would still work.

"You guys just dont know how to ride. I know how and when to move my head so it doesnt hit the restraint. I dont think my head has ever touched the OTSR except for the 1st time I rode."

Yes.except for the first time..after that first ride you rode with your head stuck out beyond the OTS. As the majority of people do. You have to agree that is not a comfortable or natural position. At any rate it is what it is. We are all different . so if you like the ride thats great

Actually, I've found that holding your head out forces your neck to stiffen up, which makes the laterals and head banging worse. If you just sit back, relax, and go with the flow of the ride you should be able to minimize any kind of pain.

I really don't see how the OSTRs "kill the ride." I'm not all that tall (6'1 or 6'2) and can see around me just fine. Though I'm wondering why, and how, anyone would be looking anywhere except the ride course. If they had the T-bars or any kind of lap bars they would be sure that they would be tight against your thighs like the current lap part of the OTSR is now, so its not like you would gain all that much over the air hills.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

I found that helps a lot to hold the OTSR with your hands about shoulder level and when you enter turns lean in the direction (but not to hard your about to go. I have had quite a few rides now where I hit the OTSR no more than two times.

I think Maverick did an excellent job landing at #13 and I believe next year it will rank at least at #5. I know some of you are probably saying that I'm way too Optimistic about that, but I'm sticking with my opinion here.

I have to agree with you BGRooDog about how to lean with the turns. I tried putting my hands up through the course and I ended up putting them back on the OTSR. A lot of it has to do with the speed and gravity just pulling your body and making hands stay where they are. I learned that on Mantis too. If you lean forward a little bit, it's not that bad. Then again it also depends upon where you sit on Mantis.

I shouldn't have to lean with the turns or hold on a certain way to enjoy the ride. It's very average at best and 13 is a good number for it. I enjoy MF, Dragster, and WT much more and my neck did too. :)
