I read the on point today. Congrats CP for best park in the year 10 years in a row. And maverick best new ride of 2007. If its the best new ride u think it would be better than #13 in the awards top 20's. I mean this ride was so good i would ride it forever. (no lie)
Bring back Boblo!
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
Awards are awards. They mean absolutely nothing other than a very good marketing slogan.

2007:Corkscrew | Magnum XL-200 | Maverick
It will likely move up Next Year after more people get the chance to ride it.
Cedar Point Lifer, RideOp, Now Park Guest
2008 - Mantis/MF/Skyride
2009 - ATL Raptor
2010 - TL Sweeps
2011 & 2012 - Area 3 Rides Supervisor
It will only move up on my list if the OTSRs are removed. So, I'm pretty sure it's going to be hanging out on the middle of my list, not at the top.

it has to have OTSRs because it does inversions. If they took them out they would have to remove the Horeshoe roll!

"Thirsty for Chicken?"
^ LOL! That's not true at all. There are PLENTY of coasters that go upside down and only have lap bars.
^^ - the OTSR's do nothing to hold you into place in a roll. Centripetal (or is it centrifugal) force holds you in. You could go through any loop at the park with just a lap bar and you'd be fine.
Goodbye MrScott

Congrats to Cedar Point! 10 years in a row is awesome! And Maverick as BEST new ride in 2007!
I think Maverick should be higher than #13 though.
I am the KeyMaster!!
You're talking about a new ride (and one that opened late and had an element removed) trying to crack a top ten of VERY established rides. The fact that it is in the top 20 speaks volumes. I was very surprised that Mystery Mine was as low as it was (48). That was a great ride with great re-rideability.

No way is Maverick worse than Nitro... Hopefully in years to come it will go up.
But Jugga said how it works pretty clearly.
Thrills Around the Corner!
The OTSRs really do hurt but I don't think they were put in place just for the Twisted Horseshoe Roll & the now defunct Heartline Roll

Well, there ARE about 42 operating coasters in Ohio... clearly it'd have to be, at a minimum, lower than that.
^^Your right, that's not the only reason. They were probably getting tired of hearing people or exceptional size complain that couldn't ride MF or TTD. So, they put in more accommodating harnesses.

They have six trains. Take the OTSRs off of three of them. Guests of exceptional size (or people scared of just a lap bar) can ride half the trains, and everyone else can ride the others. Sounds like a plan to me. :)
So instead of a single rider line, have a guest of exceptional size line? That would work well. :)
In all seriousness, I think Tim is absolutely right. I love Maverick, but the restraints are so restricting. The airtime hill before the horseshoe roll provides amazing air, but the restraints kill it.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
I'm sure that would go over real well. Ok, you guys can ride this train, but you guys are too big, you have to ride the fatty train.
