Mantis Paint Confirmed

Yeah, like there are hundreds of people working for the same painters. I doubt it's a real mystery.

Ah, Jeff, exactly. So what secret is there to keep? The only secret is while we wait for the answer from the park.

I thought you said the contract has been signed? I'm not questioning your credibility or anything, but you're confusing the blue hell out of me.

Just to inform you that there is "some" painting going on with Mantis. Seems the steps leading to the station look brand-spanking new. There's tons of white overspray on the que rails in the station, and the inside of the station has been painted. It looks quite odd not to see the spider and cob webs with dead bugs stuck in them on the underside of the roof of the station ;).

So Anonymous is correct, the actual track on the other hand.... we'll see.

Not that paint is that secret, but there goes the need for a NDA if they already started...;)

Am I that hard to follow? Wow, I need to re-re-read my posts I suppose. Sorry for confusing you: Mantis (the whole ride) will be painted. Don't you worry, Robodud.

Okay, that's the last I speak of it.

Rode Mantis yesterday and noticed some new paint already. The steps and platforms leading upto and from the station had a fresh coat of white paint. The railings on the steps and around the outside of the station had new red paint as well. Getting a head start on the painting for the off season I guess.

I noticed the new paint last week. It looked much nicer with the cobwebs cleaned out and that shiny look of new paint. I can't wait to see the track returned to it's original glory.

Let's ride the "Sky Ride Sponsored By The Ohio Lottery Odds Are You'll Have Fun" Ride!

Only problem I saw was that they dripped some red paint on the white steps. Hopefully they do a little touch up.

Anonymous, I don't doubt you at all, hope you didn't take offense to that. You just have to watch what you say around here, way too many people on here that pride themselves on trying to prove others wrong.

Anyways, I can't wait to see the Big Bug with red rails though :)

It does not need any paint job. It doesn't matter what the coaster looks like as along as its good and all I know is that The Mantis kicks serious but. Does anyone agree?

CP rocks

Nope, I don't think anyone will agree with you. Would you let your house just sit there for 10+ years without painting or staining? Trust me, this ride will be kicking like Van Dam after the paint job.
YOU MEAN ROB VAN DAMN

and were not talking about my house.....were talking about an already painted rollercoaster

If there is bad looking paint, the ride would look dumpy. Dumpy looks sway some people from riding. If you think it looks fine with bad paint, keep dreaming (insert rimshot here).

I do agree with you about Mantis kicking serious butt DREAMINGuvDRAGSTER, but that has nothing to do with the fact that it's in serious need of some paint. I did notice the paint on the steps last Sunday. It would be very cruel if the rest of the ride doesn't get paint as well, after that little "Teaser".

I just have to mention that on Sunday I had the most incredibly smooth ride on Mantis. The front car is so damn special on that ride....

If you know anyone at the park you would know that it was going to get painted for this season and was rescheduled for next season as the Ice Show went way over budget and as long as no other projects go over budget you should see that it gets painted along with several other rides. They have a plan to repaint them all and give them all air gates if they don't already have them.
Yeah, isn't the deadline for having ride gates up 2003?

I agree that Mantis is a great ride, but it DOES matter how it looks. It just seems nicer to ride on something that looks good, at least to me. Raptor looked great after its paint job, better than new. Mantis is an even more beautiful coaster, it'll look stunning with glossy new paint, especially if the rails are painted red.

Florida may have Disneyworld and Key West,
but Ohio has Cedar Point and Put-In-Bay.
It's great to live in Ohio!

I like the idea of red rails on one of my favorites, but since the "wheel-wells" on the track are not painted anyway, how exactly does having painted rails smooth out or speed up the ride (as seems to be what people are saying?).

As far as I noticed on Sunday, 50 degrees, some wind, and no one in the train does one heck of a job of speeding it up ;) I've never hit the MCBR that hard before!!

It smooths out inconsistancies in the track which cuts down on friction, making it fly through the course. Raptor prior to the repainting was a good ride, but now it just kicks your ass from start to finish!
