Mantis closed.

It was closed all day yesterday. There would even let you get close to it. does anybody know why it was broke down?

What is close?

You were not allowed to go past the train tracks. This might be confusing.The little approach to the photoe booth and the line enterance was blocked by steel rails. *** Edited 5/22/2004 9:43:58 PM UTC by CP/PKIdude***

I noticed maintenance guys working on it throughout the day (Friday), and one particular spot they were working was the platform under the lift, leading me to think it might have something to do with the lift. *** Edited 5/22/2004 10:28:39 PM UTC by mantis_man***

good maybe they will take it out and make room for another coaster

I just saw on the cleveland cam that Mantis was running again. I saw it go down the first hill 'n' such. Jason, don't say somin like that! Mantis is an awesome coaster. I think I'm one of the only people who can say (without being sarcastic) that Mantis is one of my favorite rides at the point and one of the things I look foward to riding when I get there. :)

i'm really not a fan of mantis but i just don't like stand up coasters because they just don't fit me

Whoa! thats weird...They better not take it out...I bet you've never even rode Mantis, Jason! Mantis is different then all the other Stand-up Roller coasters...it's just...special!

I went on May 20th and rode it, everything was fine. Maybe the workers were just checkin it because maybe it wasn't runnin good when they were testin it in the early morning.

Last night it looked as though they were putting another train into operation there was one on the breaks and one in the station.

I was at the park Friday 6:30-8:45 (later than closing due to waiting on TTD) and Sat. from 2:30-10:15 and the ride was closed the whole time from what i could tell. No testing at all.

We were at the park from about 2-10 Saturday also. Just made it to our van before the rain really started coming down.

Mantis was down the entire time we were there.

Dragster didn't start running until around 7-8 p.m. (Don't know if it ran before we got to the park, though).

Mine Ride got stuck. When they did get it running (not long after), they were running one train and no one could sit in the middle 6 rows. No idea what THAT was about!

The Space Spiral (?) was operating, but not turning. Again - weird.

Mantis is said to be one of the best stand ups around. That must mean they're all really bad. I rode it everytime I'm at the park and never have I had anywhere close to an enjoyable ride. I always feel like I have to fight to not get my head banged back and forth.

The ride isn't that bad if you have Tylinol in your hand when you walk off.

Yesterday while I was there they were welding at the bottom of the lift.

I was just at cp yesterday, the 22nd and the mantis was closed yet again the whole day. there were guys working on it, but it never got running again.

Mantis was running today (Sun.).

I saw that guy with the pnik mohawk both days this weekend. He is really weird! ;)

He probably did brake it! Lap bar on Magnum broke on the guy sitting next to him yesterday.

Yeah not only was Mantis down yesterday, but so was Top Thrill Dragster. Every time I've gone to Cedar Point, Mantis hasn't been running in the morning. It usually opens around like 1 oclock.
