Making a good first impression on the phone interv

Now I'm not retarded........... Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. For some people, like myself, it's hard to really connect with someone on the phone during an important conversation resulting in a panic of slurs, loss of words, and overall confusion. But the phone interview is the final step to the start of employment. So I need your help in giving examples, or your own phone interview to help prepare the newbies for what to expect. From calling the 1-800-JOBs to hanging up. Include all questions asked and information you'll need to give them. Try to do it in several steps, starting with...

Step 1- Pick up the phone and dial 1-800-668-5627.

Step 2-....

Any help would be greatly appreciated especially with Jan. 6th, the return of the managers, comes upon us.

Step 0 - Tell yourself you will get the job. Believe it.

------------------
I own you!

Step 2: Don't be nervous.

Step 3: Be prepared to hear questions you will hear in any interview.

Don't stress it so much. The interview is pretty laid back depending on what department you apply for (I've only had any interview in rides). If you choose rides, which is the best I might add, you will feel VERY comfortable with whoever you speak with. The silvers in ride ops. are the best and most fun to be around. The questions are just regular questions on safety and situations you've been in. Just answer them honestly and you will have no problem.

there isn't really any right answer...like everyone else said, just be honest and real with them...i know one question that freaks everyone out is would you like a fast or slow paced ride...don't be afraid to say slow, that doesn't necessarily mean that you're gonna get put in camp shoot me, or crappy kingdom...you could say slow and get put on wicked twister (and just to clear up, i'm not sayin that twister crew is slow or anything) they just need to know if you can handle fast turnover like raptor, mantis, etc. but seriously everyone, DON"T STRESS OUT!!!!! the fone interview is just like any other interview you would go on...don't let the fact that it's cedar point intimidate you...just answer the questions honestly and you'll be fine...GOOD LUCK TO THE NEWBIES AND I LOOK FORWARD TO MEETIN SOME OF YOU THIS SUMMER...just ask for the ORIGINAL HOOKER!!!!:)
You best not be knocking the Wicked Crew... But yes, I would agree that our pace is a little more relaxed than Raptor. Work for a minute, stand for a minute... I liked it just fine. Working Raptor was fun, but I don't think I'd want to do it all summer long... same goes for Demon Drop.

As for the phone interview.. like everyone else has said.. be honest, and don't hide any excitement for the job. I'm sure that's what they want to hear. The silver tags in rides are great, and my phone interview went really smoothly.. don't stress about it.

I actually had a good converstation with the guy that interviewed me. i am now an employee on the Raptor, its a change from six flags and what i am used to but i can't wait to see what it is like.

hey lauren here, just wanted to welcome those of you that have a place on the COOLEST crew in the park...RAPTOR!!!!! feel free to IM me at willsmithsgal00. hope to chat with ya'll lata;)
I hope I get a job out there. They give me a call or I'll call them on the 13th. BTW, Sandra, did they call you or did you call them?
Alright just a few last questions,

When I call the 800-Jobs #, will I be talking with Cedar Point Human Resource, or will I need to ask to be transferred there.

Should I directly ask for a phone interview, or just ask for my application to be reviewed?

Will I need to know the exact dates I want to start and finish?

I'm 17, will they need to speak with parent?

I just had my interview and got hired for Ride Operations! My interviewer didn't tell me what ride I'd be working but said it would be stated on my contract coming in the mail. I asked for a fast paced ride; hopefully I get a coaster. Looking forward to seeing everybody this summer.
Italics, did you call them or did they call you?
I received an email telling me that they were reviewing my application, but that I needed to be able to work weekends after August to be a Ride Host and to call them if I was able to. I called, was asked if I had time for an interview, and that was it. It's my first year for the job so I doubt I'll get what I asked for (Magnum or a fast paced coaster) but I can always be hopeful!
It really doesn't matter if it's your 1st year or not. My first year I was on WT, which was it's first year. They just place you where you think you'll do a good job.

I want to work there sooooo bad. I am only 14 so 3 more years
Is it possible to alter start/end dates during the interview? The dates I put on my application can't be met and I would assume this could be changed, but I'm not sure. Anyone know?

CWRU '07

Yes, in fact they verify the dates and ask if you can still meet them during your interview.
Italics, if you said you wanna fast paced ride and a coaster like Maggie, then you prob. will get it depending on any returners. Maggie has real fast intervals when we're running three trains. I worked there for the final weekend of the operating season last year. It was fun. But not as much as THUNDER CANYON!! We have soo much fun there, no coaster separating employees, and VERY slow when the sun goes down. Anywayz.....Good Luck! Hope you get what you want.
