I was just curious as to whether or not the contract had to be mailed in right away after it has been received. Due to some extenuating circumstances, I'm still not sure whether or not I will be able to work at CP this summer. I have my contract signed and sealed and ready to send in, I'm just waiting for the big picture to clear up. Is this a problem, assuming the contract is sent in about 3 weeks before my processing in date?
If the circumstances aren't too severe, then maybe you will be able to get a new contract to cover it. I don't have a clue what your situation is, but if they need someone with your dates, they will probably be able to work around a definate set conditions. That is if you know at this time when and where. The best solution is to call back the manager that hired you. If they can work around it, good.
The contract is supposed to get sent back in immediately after you have received and signed it. That way your department knows exactly how many people are promising to come. I would really try to figure out as soon as possible if you are going to be able to make it. They are counting on you to fill your position, and if you end up having to back out then they will have to get someone to replace you. Talk to whoever hired you and explain the situation. I am sure they will still hire you if you can make it, but they need to be aware that your employment is not guaranteed.
Also, if you wait to send in your contract, your department might assume that you are not coming altogether, and therefore fill your position.
