Magnums Station

Nice schematic, RideMan!

Like Ben, I squeeze through the mess to 1-3. I don't consider it line jumping when you can see gaps because people don't know what they are doing or have their head up their a$$ and not move. I usually go through saying excuse me. Once I reach the front I ask which seat they are waiting for. I have had people get upset with me shoving through. But, they had the same opportunity. If they won't fill in the space, I will.

I agree, leave the station alone. Just control the crowd. *** Edited 6/9/2007 4:39:02 AM UTC by Magnum "Candy" Man***

Im more of a rebel, I squeeze ahead to the back rows, they also usually dont have much of a line.

If God didn't want us to take advantage of the unique layout in Magnum's station, He wouldn't have designed it that way. ;)

SO we all seem to agree that the "crowd control" thing can work, and has worked...so whats the deal with some people being good at it and others being oblivious? I personally have never seen someone outside the station, and ive been there on some pretty busy days.

Promoter of fog.

Sounds like Opening Day last season when someone was obliviously waiting for the front seat and accused me of line jumping because I was trying to fill in row 3 which would otherwise have gone empty. I simply pointed out that the person was clearly waiting in line for the front seat, and if she wanted to ride in row 2 or row 3, she should do so instead of forcing the train to go out with empty seats. She made threats about reporting me to the ride hosts. I failed to point out that many of the ride hosts actually know me at least by sight. :) Finally they figured out that if they wanted to ride before I did, they'd have to actually *board the train* instead of waiting in the front seat queue.

I really want to see them fix the railings again. There is plenty of room in there to do it.

When I look at my diagram using Safari on my machine at home, both diagrams are in fixed-width font and both look good. When I look at the diagram in Firefox on my work computer, the top diagram is all screwed up and the bottom diagram is right. Which is it for anybody else, and why is POP Forums not correctly interpreting my CODE tags?

If they're going to keep the Magnum station packed, it should be completely enclosed in darkness. Then, add strobes, music, and a bar to make it a dance club! lol

Seriously, something should be reworked. Otherwise, just keep an attendent at the top of the stairs to contol the crowd.

What we found most difficult about the station setup was trying to get out of the line when the ride was shut down. We had just gone through the turnstyle (which should probably be set up at the beginning of the queue, like most are), and the announcer said it would be down for a little while. So we turned to get back out, and there was mass confusion of all the people in the station trying to cram through that narrow passageway to exit. Good thing there wasn't a fire...

I wish I could offer a solution, but the only thing that I could see was the placement of the turnstyle being a problem.

I haven't ridden Magnum in 3 years,(Because of raining during trips) so I don't really remember what the station was like.

However, instead of everyone whining here, why don't a bunch of people write the park a letter explaining the problems with Magnum's station. Then, maybe something will be done about it.

Or you could just not post at all. People are free to discuss their opinions as they want, which is why this is a discussion forum. If you don't like it, get off. Or, may I suggest www.boringbuzz.com

I asked for feedback, I didn't ask for you to come in here and tell us what a bunch of whiners we are, much like bholcomb. Is it really that big of a deal if we'd like the park to change a few things? Thats what CP Place is about, in case you forgot.

boringbuzz.com, where have I seen that one before....

RaptorTDC was providing feedback. He said that you should write the park and maybe something WILL happen (unlikely though). As for those who say "leave it as is," that's their opinion as well. If you can't respect that, then may I suggest www.rudebuzz.com.

:)

Hail to the Victors

Theres a difference between calling people whiners, and suggesting an idea all in the same post, or just giving feedback.

Moving on,

Most of you seem to agree that posting a full-time attendant at the turnstile would alleviate some of the congestion, but still, with the very short queues for each seat, putting more than six people in each of those lines could result in confusion, I think installing longer queue rails for each seat, and using the old style set-up for the front and back seats would work a lot better...

And Rideman, thats great! For you...me, and everyone else who goes often to the park. We know all the "tricks", the secret passages, and tips to get around the park without a hitch, but for Mr. and Mrs. First time customer, this describes the problem perfectly in the station.

mk522, I think it would take a little of both. But what's wrong with running Magnum like MF, or Wicked Twister? If you let them in the station in an orderly fashion, and only allow so many people to wait on so many seats, the trains will full uo just fine.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe Magnum's queue rails are the same standard length rails you'll find throughout the park, so extending the rails (except for maybe the front/back) would not happen. I think the main problem with Magnum's station is not just the awkward shape, but also the fact that it's so big, so when there isn't a ride op at the turnstiles, it can get chaotic. All you need is that ride op to limit the # of people in the station and voila, "problem" solved. *** Edited 6/10/2007 7:46:27 PM UTC by ramboozle***

Hail to the Victors

Yeah, I think that when I posted that, the idea was for the front/back seats, but I generalized for some reason..

Owner, Gould Photography.

Another thing that they could do if they didnt want to keep a ride op back there is that they could add a few queue snakes in the station house itself to chew up more space.

I'm all for somebody writing a letter.

I've only ridden Magnum twice, but upon first glance I noticed how cruddy the set-up for the first three seats is, and when I went for 1-3, people gave me all kinds of dirty looks, even though there was a void, and the train might have gone out empty if I didn't step in.

There should be a seperate, longer, extending line for the first seat, and maybe the second and third as well. The current setup causes confusion and tension.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for the change. I would love to see Magnum's station run like MF. I was just saying that us discussing it here isnt going to get the problem fixed, but maybe a bunch of people telling the park about the problem may help. I am sorry for making you angry. I guess whining was the wrong word.

It's no problem, but around here, you just gotta be more careful in how you word things.
